Close But Not Quite

[Raven]

*Raven staggers onto her feet, and assisted by the float spell, hobbles over to the remaining pieces of the school wall.*

Its as safe as anywhere else right now..

*Raven winces as Julia applies the ointment, and watches the battle from behind the wall*

[PhoenixFlame]

*glances over to make sure Raven and Julia are OK, then breathes a sigh of relief*

Hey over here you big idiot!

*Phoenixflame attempts to distract the creature towards her*

(OOC, hey guys, just to let you know, I have been talking to Tom, and he's fine, just snowed under with uni work, but he should be back soon!)

[Raven]

*Raven suddenly screams out in pain. Something that feels like a giant boulder racing up her leg takes over, and sends her into convulsions. Raven's leg starts glowing, and soon she is eminating so much noise and light the serpent cant ignore her.
Julia is thrown back by a wave of energy, and Raven falls to the ground.*

Wha.. i.. the helm!

*Where once laid Raven, a child now sits looking quite bewildered. Raven takes a few steps, wondering how she got to this place from The Crazied Heifer. She does not notice the impending serpent*

[Tom Troughton]

(OOC: Sorry for the absance guys)

*Tom strugguyls to get to his feet.*

"Blessed Serpent!!"

*Looks around and takes in what has happend to Raven.*

"Oh dear thats not good....at any time but its realy bad now."

*Looks towards PhoniexFlame.*

"Flamey Where's That Lightning!!! Barbaque this over grown lizzard already would You!!"

[Raven]

*Raven looks as Tom gets up. She notices something in her left field of vision. Raven sees the giant serpent and screams so loud the serpent flinches in pain. Raven stops screaming and starts running away from the serpent, she knows not where, as long as its away from the oversized snake*

OOC: Sorry for the delay guys! Had a bit of a trauma to deal with.

*Phoenixflame glances round and sees that the lightning is needed. she finishes her incantation and lightning strikes the copper wire*

*Raven has left the area, where she has gone she cannot tell....*

*The Lightnigh strikes the copper wire and a million volts of mother natures own electirc energy pulses threw the body of Cryso-Mamba.*

*The Giant snakes body jerks and withers as the electricity flows threw it. a Gastly sreik emits from its mouth and the smell of buring snake fills the air.*

*Sudernly smoke pours from the giant serpents Mouth and then in a flash it's body bursts into flames there is another shrik from the dieing serpent and then it colaps into a flameing heap on the ground.*

*Thinking quickly Tm counjours up a rain cloud to dose the falmes. When the fire dies down all that remains of the fersome snake is a black chared corpes.*

*Tom averts his eyes as do Julia and Flamey Tom quickly mutters his teleportation spell and the 3 vanish from the school ground and re-apper outside the Wolfs Howl Inn. Tom instructs his freinds to return or to get rooms for themselves and recover from theri recent ordeal while he caries on the investigation and serch for Hordriss.*

[Callimpsest]

*Much later...

A lone figure is walking tentatively around the school grounds. He wasn't sure he would ever return, though he never went as far as to take a vow to that effect. As it is, being at the once-proud learning institution is stirring up painful memories for this gentleman, and he hasn't the fortitude to venture back into the building. Certainly, certainly not into the library. The poor, wrecked, wretched library.

And yet, the entire school seems to have been an ongoing casualty of unknown conflicts. Callimpsest looks at the signs of the most recent one. The outer wall is dilapidated; a tree has been demolished; and what in the name of Yggdrasil was that charred carcass? Callimpsest dare not inspect further. He begins to regret coming back.

Then he notices something glinting in the grass. Hurrying over on some irresistible impulse, he picks it up and turns it in his fingers. It's a feather. A tail feather. A tail feather from a phoenix. A quite specific phoenix.*

Morwena.

*Callimpsest realises his mistake. He shouldn't have been trying to reconnect with the school: it is abandoned, a shell without its snail, the shed skin of a serpent (his gaze returns briefly to the monstrous corpse). He should have been attempting to reconnect with the people of the school. Just as one would not pick up a dowsing rod if one did not hope to locate water, Callimpsest hopes that he might find the owner of the owner of the feather: PhoenixFlame, former Headmistress of the Knightmare Boarding School.

But where to start looking? Why not begin at page 1: the Wolf's Howl Inn, where Callimpsest himself resides? After all, he has no idea who else is staying there.

Leaving the school behind once again, but more purposefully now than the last time, Callimpsest hastens toward the town.*
