*Drassandre narrates as best she can how the brick was cracked open (as Dreslin had suggested it could be), leading to an explosion of light ("the Flaring"), the release of the light bees, and the disappearances they caused of people close by. She doesn't specify any names.* Drassandre: ...And if you hadn't come back inside to catch forty winks, or a hundred and forty winks more like, one of those flying lights could have got you too.

*Dreslin frowned in concentration at what Drassandre was telling him, and looked completely at the mention of the flying lights*
"I have to say, part of me wishes that I had witnessed this, but the other part of me, well, that's glad I was asleep when this all happened! Though I wonder what happened to those who disappeared..."
*Dreslin looked worried for a moment, then shook himself mentally*
"Well, I don't suppose there's much we can do at the moment, from what I've seen so far of this realm, it seems to be a place where things happen for a reason!"
* A look of consternation passed over Dreslin's face*
"I suddenly realised, I only paid for one night here at the inn, not several!" He looked worriedly at Drassandre. "Do you think the innkeeper would mind late payment from me, as I didn't plan on being asleep that long!" he said with a worried smile,

Drassandre: Truth be told, Sir, I don't understand most of what happens in this land, and I don't know that I'm s'posed to. I'm sorry your friends are missing. *She looks at Young Grimwold's empty bed.* But there's not many who think they're gone for good. If the Hobo Magician really did have something to do with that brick, he'll be taking care of them.

*Drassandre laughs a little with relief. This was her ulterior motive for checking on the guest, and he's saved her the awkwardness of asking.*
Drassandre: No, Sir, it'll make his day. Telling him you were here all along but aren't willing to pay: that he would mind about!

*Dreslin's worried look dissipated and he returned Drassandre's laugh with a smile*
"Well, now that I know I won't have to make a quick escape, I think I shall head down for breakfast!" He hesitated for a moment, then said, "Would you be allowed to join me for breakfast? My way of thanking you for your kindness" he said with a smile

*Drassandre laughs a little.*
Drassandre: 'Fraid you've missed our breakfast sitting, Sir. But if it will be your first food in days, then you will be breaking your fast regardless! It wouldn't be proper to join you, but I'd be happy to serve you what morning leftovers may be in the kitchen.

*Dreslin beamed at Drassandre and followed her down the stairs*
"That sounds wonderful!"
*Dreslin selected a table that was slightly secluded but still allowed him to view the surrounding area, and sat down quietly*

*Dreslin hesitated for a moment, not sure if he should disturb Callimpsest, but then decided it would be impolite not to at least go over and say hello. Standing up, he wandered over to Callimpsest's table*
"Well met Callimpsest, how have you been?"

*Callimpsest, engrossed in the almanac, does not look up. But he catches sight of Dreslin's clothing [OOC: Last we heard, Dreslin was wearing an old habit after his own clothes vanished] and assumes Dreslin is one of the many monks that he knows.*
Pax nobiscum, Brother. I am much improved. It goes like clo- quite well, thank you.
*Callimpsest continues reading.*

*Dreslin smiled to himself, then tried again*
"I'm afraid I'm not a member of the clergy, though I am still dressed like one," He said with a wry smile, "Tis I, Dreslin, though apparently, I slept through quite a commotion"

*Callimpsest looks up.*
Oh! Sorry, yes, good morning, Dreslin!
*He shuts the almanac.*
I had tried to raise you, but it seemed you were as absent as our other unfortunate brick colleagues. You say you were asleep? In your room?

*While Callimpsest and Dreslin converse, Drassandre has set down a bowl containing a little cold porridge on the table Dreslin chose earlier. Hopeful that Dreslin won't be too disappointed, she walks back towards the kitchen to see what other breakfast leftovers she can find.*

(OOC: sorry, been uber busy in RL ) *Dreslin frowned slightly at Callimpsest's words* "Yes, though I did intend to meditate, perhaps something from the brick caused my meditation to become a longer sleep? I certainly don't recall anything from when I went to sleep to now. And now all the others who were in the vicinity of the brick have disappeared?" *As Drassandre quietly deposits the porridge on the table, Dreslin smiles his thanks, seemingly unperturbed by the cold porridge. Turning his attention back to Callimpsest, he looks curiously at the book in his hand, debating whether he should inquire about it. Whilst he is deciding, he takes a small mouthful of porridge, contemplating how he should phrase his questions*

[OOC: RL should always come first, but you've logged in a few times since your previous post without sending even the briefest message or making a quick post in the Absence thread. It's really helpful if people keep in touch where possible, so that other members know what's going on.]
Disappeared, yes. Master Grimwold, the Headmistress, the woodman who pollarded my name... some eight people in all. And that omits those not in the vicinity who have vanished! Oh, but Zeytan was spared. He and I have been among the searchers who have visited the Dunnfalls and thereabouts, but no trace have we found. No one is assuming fatalities, however. It seems we must just await their return, or their being returned, and hope it is a safe one.
*Callimpsest watches as the drowsy elf goes over to another table to sample the food the maid has put there. He chuckles quietly to himself: cold porridge will surely wake him up!*

*Dreslin tasted the cold porridge and his eyes widened imperceptibly at the taste. Though not exactly to his taste, he decided that as he had missed breakfast, he would take what he could get. Munching contentedly, he headed back to the table where Callimpsest was seated*
"Please accept my apologies, sleeping for some time seems to have awakened my appetite!"
He laughed slightly, then looked at Callimpsest worriedly, "So there is still no news from our companions? It's strange how people can just disappear, though from my conversations here, it seems like such a thing is common occurrence in the realm"
