((OOC: Sthingys? Who's been messing around with the censoring? )) ;D
*Robin tears a hunk of bread off and butters it rapidly with the knife provided.*
You know what, Grimwold? This is the first time I've been in Wolfenden and everyone has been relatively friendly. Let's hope this happens more often!
*He ravenously begns to devour the bread. Obviously, living in the Forest, he hasn't had much experience in table manners, but has enough sense to show some common courtesy, especially as his friend is an ogre and doing the same.*
Hmmm... tastes good. Better than I expected.
*...and thoughts of the Forest start to fill Robin's mind.*

[OOC: It didn't like sp00ns! I know they're dangerous in the wrong hands but there's no need to censor them...]
You're right, it does feel peaceful around here. I'm wondering whether it's the calm before the storm - there's probably a vindictive mage raging towards town as we speak - or maybe I'm being pessimistic. It's just that last time I was here, in this inn, I was transported from bed, in my sleep, into the Forest for that... little jaunt.
*YG silences himself with another warm mouthful.*
Tell me about the nicer side of the Forest. I'm sure you've experienced it.

Oh yes.
*Robin is actually getting rather wistful.*
The glade I live in... I've kind of personalised it a little bit. Well, when I say personalised, I mean I swept all the bark and leaves off the floor with a broom I... 'acquired'. It's got a great pine tree in the middle...
*Robin gesticulates widly in mid-air, to indicate the size of his tree.*
It took me some time, but I built myself a nice little tree house. It gets cold in the winter, but it's filled with blankets and rags and cushions and stuff. I mean, it's not much, but it's mine.
*Robin stuffs his face with a lump of cheese wrapped in a chunk of bread.*
And living in the Forest doesn't bother me that much. In fact, I really like it... there are some beautiful creatures in there, and I haven't had any unexpected visits from any unpleasant ones recently...
...apart from the odd friendly ogre.
*Robin winks.*

*Young Grimwold smiles a little.*
Yes... I'm odd first and friendly second, and an ogre last!
*YG sips his brandy. It sends a vague shiver through him. Not used to shivering with cold, he finds this a little unsettling, but the smooth taste makes up for that.*
Ever encountered any tree trolls? I hear their bark is worse than their bite.
*Pause.*
Absolutely no pun intended.

((OOC: Just realised what p00n means.))
*Robin laghs and chokes on his brandy.*
(cough) No pun intended, eh? Are you sure? (cough)
*Robin sips his brandy again and swallows.*
I can't say I've ever met any. Have you?

No, I haven't met any. But I've heard that there are one or two in the Forest. You might not know one even if you saw one, as I think they hide in trees and sleep a lot. It keeps them safe, but roots them to the spot, if you'll pardon that pun: if you threaten one, but it doesn't manage to terrfiy you in return-
*YG feels a burp erupting, and manages to stifle it, restricting it to a low rumble. He's not ashamed - in fact, he used to win burping contests against Brother Mace and the other monks, though he could never beat Brother Silence at full strength.*
-Excuse me, then there's not a lot it can do. Rather like the wall monsters of the Dungeon, come to think of it.

*Robin laughs loudly, and takes a few seconds of silence as an opportunity to shovel all that remains of the cheese into his mouth. All that he hs left is a hunk of bread and the butter dish.*
Wall monsters. On one of the rare occasions I've been into the Dungeon I've met one of them. Remarkably stupid creatures; all they want is riddle answers. I found I could just nick what I wanted and run off. Not that I'm much of a Dungeon adventurer, of course!

When I was younger - before I learnt that the world's actually quite a complicated place where good manners help - a friend and I used to gather up old bones or whatever we could find, go and wake up a wall monster, and throw them into its mouth!
My mother picked up some gossip once - did you know that they once got together and filed a complaint with the Dungeon Master, claiming that 'wall monster' was an offensive term? They asked to be called 'mural incarnations'. But because their track record of stopping dungeoneers was so low, he didn't listen. And not much was heard from them after that. I heard that the leader of the Opposition caught up with a few of them some time later, and turned them into guards, enchanting them with the power to eat travellers instead of just threatening to.

I can't say I've ever been eaten by a wall monster. I rarely go near them, as I've just said.
We were talking about Forest creatures a while back... well, I've never seen any of the wolves eat people... *he looks around at the décor of the Wolf's Howl* ...although this place would probably swallow you up quite nicely!
Wolves feast on whatever they can find . That includes the berries I usually eat. If they don't poison the wolves, they don't poison me.
Talking of poison...
*Robin swallows the last of his bread, and washes it down with the last of his drink.*
Best meal I've had in ages.

This tastes great too. Very filling, which I'm not accustomed to.
*YG eats a bit more quickly, in order to catch up with Robin.*
It's odd... I've only heard wolves howling in the Forest a few times, and each time, it sounds almost generic, perhaps even unreal. It doesn't scare me. Then again, growing up with Festus has meant that it's almost impossible for a canine to scare me. I wonder where the creature is these days?
*YG swallows some more brandy.*
Are there any swamps in the Forest? I have a cousin who lives in a forest swamp, only he's not keen on visitors.
[OOC: Yes, I saw Shrek last night...]

Festus?

I mentioned him... er, it, on the Path into town. The family pet. Missing, presumed deadly.

Well the tricky thing is... if you're within sight of Festus, you're probably too close.
*Draining his brandy, YG gives Robin a description of Festus.*
Hordriss had an encounter with Festus once. He.. I hear he never quite got over it, and it left him oddly fixated with bones for a while. But using his calling-name if and when you meet Festus will give you robust support - I wouldn't want anything t-to happen to you - plus I'm sure Hordriss will be glad of the chance for redress.
And if that happens and I'm not... I'm not with you, ask Hordriss to magic me over too.

Well, after that description, I'm not going to go actively looking for him, that's one thing! Still, I'm not likely to meet him in the forest, am I?
