There's a new video game from Obsidian Entertainment called Pentiment that I think fellow forum members would enjoy. It's set in a small 16th century Bavarian town and its surrounds; the story is driven and directed by conversations with townspeople and visitors. Its distinctive graphics are in the style of an illuminated manuscript. Official Pentiment websiteOne point of particular interest for me is that the character you play, Andreas Maler, knows Latin (if you choose this as one of his skills) and works on manuscripts alongside local monks, which is very similar to an undeveloped detail of Young Grimwold's backstory: He's had various exploits: for a while, he stayed at a monastery, and helped the monks with manuscript work, picking up a lot of Latin on the way Like a good gamebook, Pentiment has strong replayability because of all the intriguing paths you see but can't take.
