*Shadow thinks for a moment. This is a difficult question.*
Err...well someone did tell me once that I had a resemblance to one of his enemies. They said I looked like a 'technosorcerer'...or something along those lines, that he hated. I was horrified so we got in a really big fight and I left him black and blue and walked off. Mind you I had no idea I was that good at close-combat.

*Callimpsest's eyes widen. He sits very still.*
Clearly he had no idea either. Did you catch his name before combat commenced?

Erm...oh I know. I think it was 'Ridolfo'. He had a very weird accent.

*A few other customers have overheard Shadow and are whispering among themselves. Callimpsest looks from Shadow to Dreslin and back again, wondering what the serene elf thinks of this tale of violence.*
Dare I ask, was that "weird accent" accompanied by a stringed instrument?

*Shadow looks around to see all the people whispering. She's starting to get very agitated.*
Um...y-yes he did. S-sorry, if that's all I think I need to go.

*At that moment, Drassandre the maid comes over to the table to collect Dreslin's porridge bowl (if he has finished). Either she hasn't heard much of the conversation or she is minding her own business.*
Drassandre: Can I bring you three anything to drink?

N-no I'm fine.
*Shadow is really getting uncomfortable. She looks to Callimpsest, hoping that he'll dismiss her.*

Oh, yes, a camomile tea please, Drassandre. *He looks at Shadow.* As you are new in town, might I buy the same for you? It's a singularly calming beverage.

*Shadow is getting suspicious. She thought it was obvious that she wanted to be dismissed, yet Callimpsest still wants her to stay.*
Okay fine. If it'll calm me.

*While Drassandre waits to hear from Dreslin, she is staring at Shadow's eyes. There is no fear or malice in this, just curiosity.*
Drassandre: Sorry, Miss, I shouldn't stare. May I ask, are you from the Sandstone Mountains?

No I'm not. I'm not from anywhere really. I just travel places.

Drassandre: Oh. Have you ever been to the Sandstone Mountains then? It's just that we had a guest with eyes like yours because of a strong spice from the Mountains that he liked to take. I would introduce you but he's a wanted criminal on the run with the Ice Killer nowadays, so they say.

No I haven't actually. But it sounds like an interesting place.

Drassandre: Hmm, I don't know about that! Like Atlantis, the Sandstone Mountains are so mysterious that some don't believe they exist.
*Drassandre leans in and talks quietly.*
Drassandre: But it's a good story for you to have up your sleeve, in case anyone asks awkward questions about those eyes of yours. Dal wouldn't have given you a room if he thought you were Opposition; but the gossipmongers, well, they'll think what they please.

*Shadow seems quite pleased now that she has a story to use if she gets in trouble. But she quickly notices Callimpsest eyeing her suspiciously.*
W-why are you staring like that?!
