Ursula appears as a tall woman of indeterminate age. She has shaggy tawny brown hair that appears slightly grizzled and dark brown eyes. She is broad-shouldered and somewhat heavily built, and has an unusually deep voice for a woman. She is generally calm and soft-spoken, and somewhat pacifistic.
Ursula wears a loose-fitting tunic and leggings of dark earhten hues that blend with forest shadows, and heavy hiking-style boots. She always carries a tall staff carved with strange-looking runes, which is decorated with a string of delicate silver bells and feathers. She also wears a stone amulet in the shape of a bear, and looks somewhat shamanic.
She is quiet and introspective by nature, and a healer by purpose. She specialises in herbal remedies and natural treatments. She possesses innate healing magic of her own, but can only use this a few times each day. She is generally found in the forest, though she does venture into the town on occasion.
Perhaps most importantly, she is a Gurahl. (werebear) Unlike traditional werecreatures, she has control over her forms, and has five distinct shapes. (yes, this is quite blatantly stolen from White Wolf's Werewolf: The Apocalypse) These being:
Homid - Human form, as described. Ursula is generally found in this form.
Arthren: Near-Human. This form resembles the hairy, primitive "wild-man" stereotype. In this form Ursula becomes taller and bulkier, and her voice gains a growling undertone.
Crinos: Battle Form. This form is a fearsome hybrid of human and bear. Standing on her hind legs, Ursula reaches over twelve feet in height, and is capable of ripping trees from the ground. However, as a pacifist she will only assume this form in dire need.
Bjornen: Near-Bear. This form resembles prehistoric cave-bears, being larger and bulkier than a normal bear. If in combat, Usula is more likely to take this form.
Ursus: Bear. In this form, Ursula is a grizzly bear. She tends to spend almost as much time in this form as she does in her human form.
Ursula takes care to hide her Gurahl nature from most humans, as she is aware that it would inspire anything ranging from terror to agression, both of which she would prefer to avoid. Like most Gurahl, she is somewhat protective of humans, seeing them almost as younger siblings. She is equally protective of forest creatures.
On a final note, unlike most werecreatures Ursula is not a human who became an animal. She is a bear who found that she could become human. Sometimes she thinks that life was simpler as a bear.
