I am just curious as to what inspires you as you rp? I mean, where do you get your ideas from? Things like that.
I get most of my style from my dad (he's a awesome D&D GM) and the Dragonlance saga.

For me my inspiration mainly come from what my heads comes up with, also talks with other people that role play on the forum can cause inspiration. Life some times throws in spark of ideas at times and sure some is down to books I have read throughout the years.

Depends on what character I'm RPing as. Leytan for example takes a good dose of Insperation from Sergio Leona's Dollar's Trilogy and other things. But also what pops into my head at the time. Tom Troughton is of coursed hevily inspierd by Doctor Who. Other characters like Zeytan and Salamanda are self inspierd and not realy linked to anything in perticular. Drago Lestrade is a direct KM insperation being a Dragon Rider (as from Series 7) but his surename is a reffrence to Sir Arthur Connan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories and the character of Inspector Lestrade. Generaly I tend to find insperation in a lot of things. But a some what trademark of mine is to reffrence Movies in either my posts or titles of my threads.

[I've renamed this topic 'Inspiration II', to avoid confusion with an earlier thread.] Good question. First and foremost, my inspiration here is Knightmare - not just the TV episodes, but the books too. (Click here for more information. Half story, half 'choose your own adventure', I highly recommend them, especially the first four. They turn up on eBay every so often.) The things that shaped Knightmare inspire me too, such as mythology and real history. Last year, I went to a local lecture on the history of pubs, to see if I could pick up any ideas for the Crazed Heifer. I try to draw some kind of inspiration from everything I watch and read. During the past year, the TV series Heroes has been an inspiration: the way that the characters have to balance real-life concerns with fantastic powers has made me think of the characters of this forum; and with both, there is a certain excitement when characters cross paths. Last but not least, I'm inspired by my fellow roleplayers! *Studio audience: Ahhhh!*

For Julian, I'm inspired by the works of HP Lovecraft and Brian Lumley for the Cthulu side of his stories. The Myst universe also plays a large role, along with classical adventures such as Zork.
Storywise, I take a lot of structure from anime, in terms of long overarching plots and strong story continuity - I occasionally like standalones, but I prefer one long story as opposed to lots of little ones that really have no bearing on each other. In terms of character interactions, especially with Jules and Kenji, Wodehouse and the sharp dialogue of Robert Holmes is my guide. I absolutly adored the stories Holmes wrote for classic Who, and in particular his double acts, the most sucessful would be Jago and Lightfoot. Glitz and Dibber also remind me a lot of Leytan and Wren.
In terms of specific characters, their origins can be rather simply traced back:
Julian Lapis - Harry Sullivan.
Edward Kenji - Vislor Turlough.
Wren - Daisuke Jigen.
