Quite by chance, I started watching University Challenge earlier today - and discovered that one of the contestants is a regular on this Forum! His team went on to win and are through to the next round. So, on behalf of Surrounds and myself, congratulations to the intelligent student concerned!

Aw shucks....
Second round is on in January sometime if anyone's interested, just keep an eye out for the Corpus Christi, Oxford team...
Still smarting over being completely unable to name any of Shakespeare's Rude Mechanicals apart from bottom, although they cut my English-studenty fit with our team captain: 'No Charlie... it can't be Bottom, he's a WEAVER, it's very symbolic....' which is probably just as well. Still it gave Charlie an excuse to say 'bottom' three times on natural television...
And on a passing note, I'm disturbed by how similar my voice sounds to that of Zeriphel....

Well done indeed! Paxman wasn't too nasty to you, was he (or maybe they cut it)?

I'll be watching again old chum...IN THE DARK.
Actually, no, I'll just be watching from my communal flat area, telling some people that you're name isn't 'Corpus Christi Whitley'!

"...and your bonus questions are on childrens television programmes from the mid eighties to the mid nineties..."
Well if you get a question relating to Knightmare you hopefully will get it right. ;D

"Er, bottom?"

I met Ieremy Paxman once (Pooka did, that is, not Robin!), and shook his hand. He's a very shy bloke!

Unfortunately, I missed that one ... but according to the TV listings, the good Mr. Whitley's team is battling again tonight.
