Sorry to those that have not been informed of this but the reason I have been away is as follows.

Not many people know but I was expecting another child, the little terror was not due until early to mid September but I was rushed to hospital on the 30th of last month due to experincing contractions, two days later they released me when all had quietened down for over 24 hours..but my little girl decided she was going to have me back at the hospital the very day I was released and be born at exactly 34 weeks gestation. Myself and her have been in the neonatal until since then and got discharged today. Because she is still preterm though she is going to be keeping me especially busy on my feet and so posting is going to be slow.

Sorry I could not inform sooner of such happenings.

Thanks for the news. Congratulations on your new child and on getting through what must have been a very anxious time for you and your family. I hope you were well looked after in hospital. Enjoy your maternity leave, whatever form it may take.

Family Gatherings, the main Winteria thread, has had no new posts since September of 2012. That 'slow trickle' is very much a spindly icicle. Leytan I know could conceivably be reactivated, if not there then elsewhere on Surrounds; you intimated to me a couple of months ago that you'd 'been meaning to get back' and seemed about to; the other members have given me no reason to believe that they will be returning. Hey guys sorry should have posted this sooner but having a hectic time at work at the moment, due to some new people starting nursery and some other things (as well as some health issues) so will be Absent for a few days more, hopefully be back by end of next week.

Also while I'm here Roz (aka Gretel/Theodora) is also having health issues at the moment but she's hoping to be back soon.

Hmmm... Been meaning to put this through the wash for a while. At least the moths haven't poked any holes in it yet!

I suppose my non-return was really a mixture of laziness and lack of momentum. There are still plans in place for what happens next after "Family Gatherings", including a return to the more communal areas and one of the group being threatened with a Pink Rag Tutu (seriously!). How the the 2nd point fits into the grander scheme is something I will leave for collective imaginations. However, fit it does and a plot point it becomes...

Unfortunately, through my own fault as much as anyone elses, "Family Gatherings" went into a flat spin and flamed out. As tends to be the way with forum RP, it's unsurprising that many of us bailed out and hit the canopy on the way.

I admit, I prefer "clean" threads where the DM string pulling is as subtle as possible. Things tend to flow more naturally that way.

Having said that, the flow is currently a stoppage and I'm more than happy to brainstorm a resuscitation attempt.

Thanks for replying. When Ricky/Leytan returns, we can open up a discussion and pool our ideas. I understand that Louise/Midnight/Daenary's is interested in reviving her characters but I've not been able to discuss this with her directly yet.

Indeed.

That just Leaves Vyrrian Wren (who I will corner and attack with a frying pan at the first opportunity) and Lady Mercury (played by Phoenix Flame?).

Wren is tangled up in something we can't easily ignore. However, I believe Lady M is effectively coasting behind the group and could be "parked up" while still allowing for a comeback at a later date. A little fiddly but not impossible.

Once the current Winterian madness is settled. The original plan to bring our "closed set" properly back into the fold can be started. I won't go into specifics here in the open forum (spoilers!) but I can imagine the gameplay working similar to "The Watchers Challenge" from years ago. A main narrative with other characters reacting to what is placed in front of them.

Having put the most recent bout of soul-stomping drama behind me and now approaching something resembling a life that is open to this kind of happy malarky, I can confirm that I should now be back and posting regularly for the forseeable. Should anything be likely to take me out of play for extended periods, I will try and give as much notice as possible so as to avoid any delay or general derailment of proceedings.

That's all I ask. We all know how splendid Surrounds can be when everyone is communicating and cooperating. I'd be thrilled if we could recapture some of the old magic.

It's up to you whether you want to wait for Daenary's to hopefully start posting again or to take Wren elsewhere (with or without moderator intervention). If Wren is going to be in limbo yet awhile then bringing Julian back into play is not out of the question. Feel free to post or PM any thoughts.
