[ModNote: Continued from A Late Awakening.]

*Cassandra and Malark - now with both pincers round Cass' ankle, the journey unnerved him a bit - appear in a flash of light at the waterfall. Malark lets go and Cass' bends down to rub her ankle*

"Ouch, Malark - you've got some pretty sharp claws there, ain't ya? Ooooh, me ankle...never mind though, eh? If I'd been you, I'd've done the same thing, it's made me dizzy an' all!"

*Looks at Zeytan's note again*

"Now, we've just got to find the potion ingredients. Right then, off we go!"

*Cass starts looking round for first ingredient as shown on list*

[Zeytan]

*The First Ingreidant on the list is*

ROCK POOL KEALP

"This underwater member of the moss family grows just below the water line of Rock Pools."

"It can be found in pools in the Dunfalls Cave system."

[Stiletta/DGirl/Cassandra]

"Right...cave system...ok..."

*Starts looking round for a cave entrance and finds one eventually...with Malark in front, Cass goes into the cave. Eventually the tunnel, which has water running along it, opens out into a pool. As the water level gets a bit deeper, Cass notices some green, slimy plants growing under the water.*

"Hey Malark, could you check to see if that's the right plant I need? Just to be sure*

*The crab swims under the water level and over to a clump of the plants, looks at them for a minute then comes back up to the surface. He blows pink bubbles at Cass*

"I'll take that as a yes...well, here I go!"

*She takes a deep breath and goes under the water. Reaching out, she grabs some of the plant in her left hand and then surfaces*

"Second ingredient now..."

*She takes the list out of her robe, it is sopping wet but luckily she can make out the writing*

[Zeytan]

*Second Ingrediant.*

THE EGG OF A GIANT MOTH BAT.

"The Giant Moth Bats Egg is a considers delicasy in the taverns of Linghorn but the creature only nests in Dunfalls."

"A Nocturnal creature it's nest can be found in between the roots of Old Pine Trees."

[Stiletta/DGirl/Cassandra]

*After coming back out of the cave system, Cass goes over to some nearby trees - again Malark is in front and this time he scuttles up and down the trunks of various trees, looking for a resting bat beside a nest. Eventually he finds one but has to come back down and tug on Cass' robe to get her attention - she's busy gazing up other trees, while at the same time trying to dry her robes and the list with a simple spell she knows*

"What is it, have you found one of those bat's nests?" *Malark gestures with a claw towards a nearby tree and Cass sees how tall it is* "Blimey, that's one tall tree? Oh well, beggars can't be choosers"

*She goes over to the tree and stares up into the branches. About halfway up, a dark shape hangs upside down on a branch...and something is beneath it, a promising something*

"That looks like it, alright! Let's get climbing then"

*Cass starts to climb up the tree (luckily she's experienced at it, having climbed trees as a child a lot) with Malark beside her. Eventually she reaches the halfway mark and looks over to the branch underneath the huge, sleeping bat. There is a large nest there, with 4 large eggs in it. Tentitavely, Cass reaches out a hand and gently takes one of the eggs, putting it in her travel pouch. Just at that moment the bat decides to wake up and, on seeing what Cass is doing, gives a loud shriek, drops off the branch and flies up to her, biting and scratching with it's sharp teeth and claws. It grabs onto Cass' hand with its teeth and despite shaking her arm to get it off, it stubbornly holds on*

"Ouch...eek...let go, will you? I'm sorry about taking your egg...ouch...but if I don't take one I'll fail this test...ow!!" *By this time, Cass' hand is scatched and bleeding*

*Just at that moment there is a loud crack from the branch above and Malark, who'd been sitting there swiping at the bat with his claws, lands on top of the bat and squashes it, knocking it unconcious. In the process the Bat lets go of Cass' hand. Malark gets up clumsily and pushes the bat into it's nest. He turns to Cass with what looks like a slightly smug expression on his face...it looks almost like a smile*

"Jeez, Malark - where would I be without you? Probably unconcious at the bottom of the tree or somethin' and I'd've failed me test surely"

*Gives Malark a pat on the claw and then patches up her cuts and scratches with another small spell*

"Now we've got the egg, we'd better get out of here before that thing wakes up or we'll really be in trouble"

*With that, the two of them get back down the tree as fast as possible, go a safe distance from it (out of the bat's sight) and Cass takes out the list and sees what the next ingredient is*

[Zeytan]

WARNNING CASS: The next 2 ingrediats are will be the most dangerous to collet so be carefull.

*The next ingreidant is.*

THE JUICE OF A TOUNG LASHER TOAD.

"This toads are found mainly in the undergothe near the Wolftrack River. despite there size there toungs can extend to twice there one body size and are coated with a toxic venom that cause proalasis in small animals and can caush a very nasty rash, potenshail fever in humans so BE CAREFULL.

(NOTE: Don't worry about Malark his shell will protect him)

"To get the juice of these frogs you must capture one and useing a leaf rub some of it off there back."


Also while your nere the river

*Ingerdiant number 4*

THE THORNS OF THE CREEPING HORAK.

"This Fungus is found in the reids around the River it's vines are very thick and it's grip is deadly so be carefull for once the Horak has a hold of you it will try to drag you to a watery grave."

"You need at least 4 thorns."

*Starts wummaging round in the undergwoth*
[Sorry, I had to do that! ]

"Hmm...better find a leaf first - 'cause if one of those frogs gets me and I've got no leaf on me then this task is going to take far longer than it's supposed to..."

*Plucks a leaf off a nearby plant and starts rummaging around, looking for one of the dangerous frogs. Eventually she sees one - it's sitting still a few inches in front of her but she can see it's beady little eyes are wide open, watching her*

"Just a little precaution first..."

*Casts a spell to prevent any adverse reaction to the poison from being too nasty. Then, with the leaf in one hand, she reaches out with the other and grabs the frog by it's back legs. The frog dangles in mid-air, thrashing wildly and trying to strike Cass with its poisonous tongue. Fortunately she manages to wipe some of the poison from the frog's back, but just as she drops the frog back into the undergrowth, it's tongue hits her on her arm*

"Ouch...the things I go through for that professor of mine...if it wasn't him I think I'd just give up"

*Starts scratching her arms and legs and face wildly, as a red rash has just broken out all over them*

[Stiletta/DGirl/Cassandra]

*After taking a little rest on a fallen log - during which the itching has died down a little - Cass goes over to the nearest lot of reeds and searches a bit to find one of the vines. She finds one and notices that it is covered in thorns*

"Malark, I think I might need your help again here - if that plant decides to entwine itself round my leg then it'll be really hard to get free of. If you could just wait by it with a claw at the ready, to snap that thing in half if it tries anything. Can you do that for me?"

*Malark looks at Cass and blows pink bubbles, then scuttles over to where the vine is and places an opened claw near it. Cass immediately leans forward and starts taking some of the thorns, but not without wincing a little - the thorns are quite sharp. Just as she's about to take the last one, the vine comes alive and, just like she suspected, wraps itself round Cass' ankle and starts pulling her towards the water. After a moment of fright, Malark comes to his senses and snarts snapping at the vine with his claws*

*Managing to get last thorn*
"Hurry Malark, it's pulling me into the water!"

*Just then, Cass falls back onto the ground - Malark has managed to free her from the vine's grip. He watches the injured vine retreat back into the water then scuttles over to Cass, who's disposed of the rest of it*

"Thanks Malark. If you hadn't been with me I probably would've been drowning in the river right now" *Malark blows more pink bubbles at Cass* "Oh well, just one more ingredient"

*Once more, she takes out the list and looks at it*

[Zeytan]

* If your reading this line then well done Cass your well on your way to passing your first test in Potion ingreidants gathering. Your Final Ingrediant is........*

A COMMET DUST FLOWER

"These tiny plants grown under bushes and in rottern old tree stumps or anywere dark. There golden glow gives of a very faint light that is remmenisant of a Willo de Wisp."

"This simmilarity is one of there 2 main deffences against predators the other is a dust cload they can produce from there flowers."

"NOTE 1: The dust is not harmfull in anyway but to an animal it will apper very frightning. You on the other hand will proably just get a bit of a tickley throat for a few moments"

"NOTE 2: REMMEMBER ONLY PICK ONE!! These planst are very rare and congregate in large clustors if one is lot they can spawn another but it take a long time up to a year to do so. So takeing more then one can seriusly dammage the colony as a whole."

"If you pick more then oen or damage any of the other planst unneserceraily you will be automaticaly failed. Malark will be watching you closely."

"NOTE 3: Accidently damaging one will not result in automatic failure."




"Once this is done you will be strait into your map reading orientering test consult your map and the directions I have given. Your task will be to locate me"

"NOTE: NO TELEPORT SPELLS!!! Unless you are in danger. Un-warented use of magic will be regared as cheating result in automatic faliure of the test."

*To Malark*

"Hey, you'd better stay here while I get this last ingredient, it might scare you a bit and I don't want that to happen. You wait by that log and I'll just search these bushes over there - they look promising"

*Malark blows green bubbles in agreement and scuttles over to the log and onto it. He settles down and looks over to where Cass is going. She goes over to the bushes and starts looking under them all. After about 10 minutes of searching, she sees a gold glow coming from underneath one and looking under it, finds a small clump of the tiny flowers. Reaching out, she gently takes hold of one - at this, the flower sprays dust into the air, and some of it goes into her face, making her cough and splutter. After a few seconds she regains her senses and picks the flower - making sure it's only one she's got hold of. All the while she is doing this she's in the middle of a coughing fit. Once she has the flower, she runs back over to the log. Checking the flower over, she sees it is not damaged. Malark blows pink bubbles at her*

"At last...I've been through the wars 'ere! At least we're on the winning side, eh Malark love? Now we've just to find Prof. Zeytan"

*Takes out map and looks to where the X is*

"Eh Malark, according to this 'e 'ain't far from 'ere"

*Looks back up, but is shocked to find that Malark is now nowhere to be seen*

"Malark...Malark...where are ya? Come back 'ere, I might need your help still..."

*She stands up again and looking at the map, hurries in the direction where the X is shown to be*

[ModNote: Zeytan (the member, not the character) is controlling Cassandra in this post. With her approval, I hope.]

*Cass hurries threw the branches and bushes. All the time looking at her map and then back at were she's going.*

*Sudernly she turns a corner and nearly runs face first in to a big rock. She skids to a halt and looks blankly at her map.*

"This isn't ment to be here."

*She thinks to herself and she looks about blankly realising she's gone the wrong way some were down the line.*

*Sudernly out of the corner of her eye she see's some yellow bubles float up from behind a clump of brambales.*

[Stiletta/DGirl/Cassandra]

*Cass slowly goes over to the clump of brambles and peers round it. She finds Malark there.*

"So that's where you've got to Malark...I've been looking for the place where the Professor is and I think I'm lost. Do you think you could help me a bit?"

*Malark looks at her, looks at the map - then rushes off in another direction, as fast as his legs can carry him. Curious, thinking Malark could be onto something, Cass decides to follow him. She consults the map and is somewhat relieved to see he's heading in the right direction to the X*

[Zeytan]

*Malark makes great speed towards a cave entrence then stops and looks puzzeld at the cave the inside seems to be glowing.*

[Stiletta/DGirl/Cassandra]

*Catches up with Malark, who's standing still. She takes a minute to register what he's staring at, then she sees the red glow too*

"Hmm...somethin' suspicious goin' on 'ere...I think this may be the right place *checks map* yeah this looks about right. 'Ow's about we go in then and see what's making that glow, eh?"

*Malark backs off a bit, turns to Cass and blows pink bubbles, then rushes into the cave. Cass follows*

[Zeytan]

*Malark dash head long into the cave system, the glow it seemed was emmiting from a moss that coverd the cave walls, celing and floor.*

*Malark stoped and looked back seeing that Cass was still a bit behind, he set off agin not looking were he was going and....*

BASH

*Right into a rock jutting out of the floor. Malark rubed his face with a claw and then noticed his calw was glowing red. The Moss had stuck to him, he looked at his shell it was also coverd. The Malark had a mishciveous idea he quikcly rolled about in the moss and then scuttled into a hole in the wall and waited for Cass to come along.*
