SaxonStorm, the moody, unapproachable, yet strangely charismatic and insanely good-looking frightknight cadet, has disobeyed the commands of his dastardly master, Lord Fear, and headed into the forest, searching for a lost clue about his past. Somewhere in this wooded wilderness lies the tower of time. Saxon must find it, for within, he has heard tell, is an ancient Latin tome, written by the hand of Merlin himself. It is Merlin's own journal, one that the ancient sorcerer has maintained for centuries. Merlin, who saw all, knew all, and occasionally remembered some things, was a scrupulous gatherer of information, and so any birth in the local populace was bound to be recorded in the tome. Saxon is sure that within it there must be information relating to his own birth.
Now, after many hours of trekking through wild and unwelcoming outcrops, he has found the Dunfalls, where he decides to stop and refresh himself.
He kneels by one of the smaller pools at the foot of the falls, and drinks deeply from the crystal waters...
....when suddenly.................

*A dark shadow under on the bottom of the falls makes the water look murky. It takes the shape of something living, and heads towards the surface, where SaxonStorm stares, fearless, trying to work out what it is*

The living form breaks the surface. It has a small head, and a long, thin neck. The rest of its body is hidden below the surface of the water, but it is clearly a huge and magnificent beast.
"Greetings," says the creature,"I am The Huge And Magnificent Beast of Dunfalls."

*Someone very small and very smelly has been hiding behind a large white rock and has seen all. With a last glance at the huge, shining beast he turns and runs towards the Village, a plot forming in his small, smelly mind*

*Saxon spots the movement in the bushes as the very small and very smelly figure runs away.*
"Who was that?"
*The Huge And Magnificent Beast looks sombre.*
"That was the Small And Smelly Person Of Dunfalls," it explains darkly. "You must find him and bring him to the Huge And Magnificent Beast of Dunfalls, that the Small And Smelly Person Of Dunfalls might be punished for stealing the marble collection of the Huge And Magnificent Beast Of Dunfalls, including the very rare Green-eyed pixie marble that gets you three goes, plus a bonus throw when you're playing bonk-on rules."
"The scoundrel," I agree.
"Do me this favour," continues THAMBOD [OOC: Thambod? That's quite a good name actually!], "and The Huge And Magnificent Beast OF Dunfalls will render thee aid in thy heavy and burdensome quest for The Tower Of Time."
"Ta."
*Saxon turns to pursue the Small And Smelly One.*

*The small and smelly one runs through the village, ducking ina nd out of passages, up walls and over rooves until it believes it has lost SaxonStorm, and then dives through the doors into the Crazed Heifer*

*SaxonStorm is sat at a table inside the Crazed Heifer, where, as coincidence would have it(1), he went to have a drink, having given up his search for the small and smelly one as a bad job.* (1) Besides which, it helps to move the story along a bit. *SaxonStorm captures the small and smelly one in double-quick time, whereupon he realises that it is one of the most hideous but likeable creatures in all creation. It is a Baldrick.* [ModNote: As this was later designated a 'Test Thread', SaxonStorm's first proper appearance is in Medical enquiry.]
