Ah, friends, one is glad to see that there are still those one can trust in this terrible arena.
*Hordriss beckons the three into a hollowed-out patch in the undergrowth where he hid when on the run, and bandages Ursula's leg.*
Now, to important matters. I have been watching some parts of this grotesque game using this spyglass which I... appropriated from Mr H.O. Nesty [OOC: He is, of course, unaware of Deal's fate] It has revealed to me that we are the three left on the side of light, whilst Fear and that Automatum remain on the opposition. There is also the question of the female assasin, who appears to have been trapped in a magical book. Let one reveal what one has been given: *reveals contents of pack to the two via IM*
Would you kindly do the same? One is gratified to say that Fear has apparently lost his weapon, although as to what became of his potion one is less sure.... [OOC: He didn't watch the scene with Hands trying to give it to YG]
Now, once we know exactly what we have, we can plan how we are to deal with these creatures. Despite our scruples, one is sure that none of us will object to disposing of that mechanical abomination. As for Lord Fear, one has been the victim of his assasination attempts so often that one fears retribution would be far too easy....

*YG allows himself to relax ever so briefly, as he recharges himself with some of the rations he has acquired, and shows the objects he has acquired to the others.*
Perhaps these objects - including yours, Ursula - could be useful in ambushing the Automatum? No doubt he is heading for us anyway, so we should prepare to defend ourselves. As for Lord Fear: one moment he was on our tail, the next he was out of sight. Hopefully we have lost him for a time.
Or perhaps, rather than hiding, we should keep moving? There are more abandoned knapsacks around that may be useful; and the book you mentioned, Hordriss.

*Lord Fear jumps down from his tree revealing himself*
"You were really a bummbling old whimbag" Lord Fear said to Hordriss.
"I've see you've met up with that overgrown teddy bear and that son of a witch"
"You better not attack me, I armed" said Lord F as he neld his Branch in spear position.

*Still crouching over YG's backpack, having been shown it contents, Hordriss is holding YG's weapon. He has his back to Fear as he grips it tightly, deciding that his own weapon is too awkward to use, and quietly uncorks his potion.*
Armed with a branch, Fear? I'm sure that one's young friends here are more than capable of dealing with that.
*As he speaks he scratches in the soil, for YG and Ursula to see: DISTRACT HIM.*
*Then he raises his potion to his lips, and drinks*

*Lord Fear sees Hordriss drink his potion*

*Unfortunately for Lord Fear, Ursula is still in her Crinos form, having just dropped her knapsack for Hordriss to inspect. At the sight of Lord Fear, she snarls savagely, remembering their last encounter. The sharpened stick he is using as a weapon holds little fear for a giant bear armed with its natural weaponry, claws and fangs.*
*The words Hordriss scratches in the ground mean nothing to Ursula, who cannot read them, though the huge taloned paw currently sweeping at Lord Fear's head will certainly prove to be distracting enough....*

*Hordriss drinks the potion and immediately turns invisible. There is no telling how long it will last, so he clutches YG's small but sharp knife in anticipation.
Ursula's paw swipes through the air and connects with Lord Fear's helmeted head...and bounces off causing no harm. Not only does her paw bounce, but Ursula is thrown twenty feet backwards through the air. Whether this shield of Fear's is permanent, we do not know.*

Thinks: Curses, Fear has used some form of shield. One had better make use of this enchantment swiftly.
*Whilst the others are distracted by Ursula being thrown backwards, Hordriss grabs the contents of Ursula's backpack [OOC: Which is presumably open on the floor as she has just been showing the others her stuff] and runs off into the trees, whispering to YG as he passes:*
Whispers so only YG can hear: Lure him towards the cliffs. Use my weapon if need be.
*Then, under the cover of his invisibility, Hordriss makes his way to the cliff where Tom fell, which he has seen through the spyglass*
[OOC: If the contents of Ursula's backpack don't turn invisible with him then Hordriss leaves them with YG]

*Young Grimwold is startled at the effect of Lord Fear's spell, and his face is decorated with panic as he watches Ursula thrown backwards. He glimpses Hordriss fade into invisibility out of the corner of his eye, and is somehow less startled by this. There is something reassuring about a benevolent mage regaining magic.*
*YG is worried, however, by Hordriss' fleeting whisper. He has no desire to return to the cliffs after what he felt and saw there last time. Also, he wonders, is there are a more dangerous venue to face someone with a bounce-shield than that? He also doubts his ability to find the cliffs again, without a good look at the map.*
*He thinks; and concludes that in the short term, it is best that he keep his distance from Fear, while the shield is active. With the sharpened piece of wood in one hand and Hordriss' abandoned weapon (a longsword) in the other, YG weaves (as best an ogre can) through the trees, to find where Ursula landed. For he knows that if he abandons Ursula, he becomes a single player for a time, and that would be an unpleasant concession to the game that the Old One wants them to play.*

*On his way to the cliffs, Hordriss passes the area where the magical book lies under the tree root. Stopping to catch his breath, he builds a small fire, focusing the sun onto the wood using the spyglass, as after all this exercise it is essential to keep warm*
Thinks: Of course, ones magic usually keeps one fairly healthy, but if one's age were to let one down now it would be most unfortunate. Not that one is doing badly for well over nine hundred...
*Seeing the backpacks of the fallen lying around, he gathers any objects remaining there [OOC: Kully, can you let me know what, if anything, he finds] and spots the book. He is about to pick it up.... when he remembers seeing Lady Morgan trapped in it.*
Thinks: One must be most careful with these magical prisons.
*Carefully, avoiding contact with the book, he cuts away enough of the root to pry the book loose using a stone. Then, not touching it with his bear hands or allowing it to open, he lets the book slide into the flames.*
Thinks: It is regrettable, but one has little respect for assasins. They no longer follow the honourable code of the Hash'im and are little more than mercenaries....
[OOC: My information on the Hash'im is hazy, so if anyone feels the need to correct me here, please do!]
*With that, Hordriss hurries to the cliffs, with a remarkable turn of speed for such an old man, and in the woods nearby ties the strong twine slackly between two trees, keeping the remainder in his hand, ready to pull taut. He waits.*
Thinks: Now, let us see if anyone is attracted by the smoke....

*As he waits, Hordriss inspects the objects which he has picked up... and considers something which has been bothering him for some time*
Thinks: Why, one wonders, are there no corpses at the sites of those fallen... Of course it would be appropriate to that Ancient creature to spirit them away for his own pleasures....
Oh dear, one hopes that the Gru-... that one's old master has not taken over their forms for foul means...
Then again, one was sure that, just for a moment, one heard the sound of Troughton's voice...
[OOC: Referring to his departure whilst all the magic in the universe was temporarily Rob's presumably damaging even the barriers around the match only very temporarily]
In any case, one must not waver from one's plan, or one may lose everything...
[OOC: Not to hurry anyone, but could one of the remaining players wander over quite soon? In a couple of days I shall find it much more difficult to post! Oh, and has burning that magical book had any effect?]

[OOC: Sorry about my absence, I've had broadband problems thanks for NTL, but I'm back]
"I don't know why they bother, all their resistance is pathetic, their chances at defeating me are infinitesimal, oh I like that word, it sooooooo describes those against my talents" said Lord Fear as he advanced on YG hold his branch up high ready to try and stab him.

*The sight of a giant bear hurtling through the air may be surprising to most, but not nearly as surprising as it is to Ursula. She lands with an earthshaking thud some distance away, and quickly staggers back to all-fours, shaking her head with a grunt*
*She dimly remembers the spell Lord Fear cast before attacking, and guesses that was what caused the reaction to her blow, as Lord Fear made no move to repel her. But he is still a danger to Young Grimwold, and she lumbers back over to help him fend Lord Fear off... if indeed they can*
