[ModNote: Continued from Journey's End.] Vyrrian Wren splashed through the gates of Wolfenden, clutching his bag and sword. He was cold, hungry, and physically exhausted from his 3 hour trek through the woods in the pouring rain. Unsurprisingly, he wasn't in the greatest of moods. The first sensation to hit him full in the face were the smells. An entire menagerie of food, animal, weather and other aromatic assaults on his senses flooded into him, and it was all he could do to prevent himself being overwhelmed. All around him the hustle and bustle of the town was going on - street merchants, beggars, a couple of thieves, some soldiers and a ragtag assortment of other weird and wonderful citizens, all going about their lives. Vyrrian looked around for the nearest sign of habitation. He was in the mood for a decent meal and some ale, and right now he wasn't particularly fussy about where it was going to come from... ((OOC - Right folks. Intro over, time to get some RPing underway. Feel free to join in wherever you want, 'those who watch'... )

[ModNote: Midnight's posts in this thread are as an NPC and not as herself, and I will change the colour of her text to clarify this.]
*A medium sized boy with sandy blonde hair darkened to a dull brown due to mud, filth and general lack of cleanliness spied the stranger in town. Taking him for easy pickings he smiled a rather innocent look smile, waled slowly passed a fruit cart and snagged a apple while the seller was busy with a real customer.*
*His blue eyes sparkled slightly as he was sure this stranger would have a fair bit of cash on him..hopefully enough for a decent meal and maybe a decent weapon..*
*Dropping the apple or what was left of it he began to make a loping run for the man and "accidentally" slipped on some wet stones as he was just passing by falling into the man who was a better build than he had first thought as he winced as he found strong muscle underneath the down trodden exterior...*
Now where this guys money...
*He thought to himself.*
I'm sorry sir...
*He blushed slightly though whether the man could see it under the muck and grim on his face was unknown.*

Vyrrian looked down his nose at the boy, trying to look irritated, but forgave himself a brief smile. He recognized the signs instantly. Face obscured by at least six layers of grime. Clothes that looked like they were dragged through a river. And a cheeky yet calculated expression that seemed to flicker everywhere about his person.
Street Urchin. Some things never changed.
'Think nothing of it lad' he smiled, and idly flicked one copper piece towards the boy. He caught it expertly, and cracked a tooth-stained grin.
The youth espied a small leather purse loosely attached to the stranger's belt. It looked very inviting...
'Actually, maybe you can help me lad. I'm looking for a decent place to eat and spend the night. You wouldn't happen to know a place... would you?'
The stranger had produced another copper, and had begun flicking it up and down in the air.

*A voice said from the shadows.*

Vyrrian turned his head slowly, and located the sudden source of the information. An alley, to the left of him, where an unseen person lay in wait.
'My thanks to you, sir. Your timing is impeccable. Your self esteem maybe less so, if you choose to remain for so long in darkness. Who might you be?'

*The Figure emerged from the Darkness. Vyrrian imediatly noticed his eyes. There told of his non-human origian. One was the piercing blue of a Winterian but the other was a deep emeradle green of an Atlantian. Also Vyrrian was aware of a noticable temprature drop that seemed to surond the stranger.* "My name is Leytan." [ModNote: Last seen in A Cold Blooded Return.]

*The boy opened his mouth to reply to the stranger but quickly closed it when the man with different coloured eyes replied...He wasn't sure why but he decided the man with odd colour eyes was a no go. Danger hung round him like mist round a lake and this lad may want money but his life was worth more than a few mere coins. That didn't leave the stranger with a very inviting pouch out of the game though.*
*The boy found his voice though it sounds more aqueaky than he would of liked. Slipping the copper into a part of his clothes that he had stitched a pocket into.*
Aye, the Wolf's Howl Inn is one of Wolfendens better establishments and newly renovated aswell after some incident over there a while back...No one ever caught the people that trashed the Inn....
*Looking at the stranger.*
I'll show you there if you want?

He nodded respectfully at the figure.
'Another time, Master Leytan. Look up Vyrrian Wren if you have any problems that need... solving.'
He turned towards the urchin.
'Lead the way, laddo.'

'Vulture? Do not associate me with a bone picking scavenger, Leytan. And as for finding work... let our future employers decide who is the better man, not us.'
'Good day to you sir.'
With a nod towards the mercenary, Vyrrian Wren followed the urchin down the street, noting with grim satisfaction that his belt felt slightly lighter.
Sometimes, it would be so nice to be wrong about people for a change...

*The boy started to lead the stranger named Wren to the Wolf's Howl Inn. Quickly darting between people, orcs and various other creatures alike. The small amount of money he had been able to take tapped against each other slightly but was muffled by his clothes and drowned out by the noise of the crowd.*
*The boy seemed to blend into the crowd and to most seemed to disappear from sight but to the trained eye he waaaas spotted. He hoped these was one of those times that he didn't have to go slow he as after this he had to deal with something else..now that he had some cash to spare.*
*Looking back quickly he was some what surprised that Wren had managed to mostly keep up. Soon the Inn came into view looking as good as new..As if no damage had ever been done but people took a hell of a lot longer to forget about things no matter how quickly the past could be hidden behind bricks, windows and curtains.*

'Here ya go, mister. Wolf's Howl Inn. Best place in all of Wolfenden.'
Vyrrian turned, and smiled.
'Thank you, lad. Here.'
Vyrrian flicked another copper at the boy, who once again caught it expertly.
'Get something to eat. And stick around. I might have some more little errands I need to run...'
He smiled, and strolled into the pub.
The youth, meanwhile, had scurried off as fast as his legs would carry him, and now found himself in a nearby alley. He felt bad about pinching the traveller's purse. But he had to learn, sooner or later.
He hungrily opened the purse, and plunged his hand into it, eager to see how many coins he had now.
He instantly regretted it.
'YEEEEEOUCH!'
Something extremly sharp had sunk itself into his fingers, and he withdrew them at a speed not unlike light. His eyes widened in horror. Clutching his fingers was the tiniest Snapdragon the youth had seen in his life. It had caught his fingers in it's jaw, and was very close to drawing blood.
The boy shook his hand viciously, and the pocket dragon flew off. It landed on the cobbled floor of the alley, and scampered back towards the pub.
Enraged, the boy ripped open the purse to reveal a small yellowed piece of paper. It bore the following inscription.
That's some talent you got there, boyo. You might think of putting it to better use, though. A less painful one, too.

*The boy smiled at the compliment but winced as his finger continues to throb.*
Oh well, these few coppers will have to do.
*Going to the nearest stall he bought a small loaf of bread some fruit and to treat himself a very small bit of chocolate. After doing so he hurried to a small wooden, rotten looking door , weathered with age and from the dampness of the alley. Knocking a couple of times then pausing then knocking a couple more the door opened slightly and a girls face appeared.*
Jimmy? What are you doing back so soon?
*Jimmy sighed briefly at his sisters comment.Quickly passing her the food.*
I know it's not much and I can't stop theres a new man in town who seems interesting...and well may be able to provide us with some food...
*Thinks to himself*
If he lets me help after the pinching.
*Before his sister can say anything he takes off down the alley again and dipds out of sight.. His sister blonde haired and blue eyed looked after her brother long after he had disappeared again..
Just don't go getting into any trouble...
