*It's hard to squint while running. And injured. But mostly running.*
Some sort of... of figure...?

*Her eyesight focuses.*
Yeah...something like that...I guess.

*Hearing the rumbling and shouting, and realising that both are getting closer, YG isn't sure that he wants to be drawn into whatever is unfolding. Noticing a nearby heap of masonry on the grass beside the main building that, from a distance, vaguely resembles a figure, YG crouches behind it to gain some concealment.*

*Still concerned about the crack following them, Shadow decides to speed things up. Of course, she isn't as speedy as a certain Cat Demon who has been heard to have sped across the lands of Dunshelm on many occasions, but any amount of speed is more than welcome in this current situation. She tightens her grip on Robin's wrist and quickens her running.*

*As the girl warrior quickens her pace, dragging the Woodsman after her, Dinosaur Name begins to realise he's flagging a little. Being too short to be noticed by either, he is reliant on his own self-resolve to get himself through this mess, and he's not really that confident about that.*
Can't... keep... running.
Hi, I'm Laura.
What was that?
*A voice has sounded in his head. As he keeps running in his stubby legs through a room that may once have been a music room or a gym, it returns, this time accompanied by some repetitive, unoriginal beats.*
Keep going; you're doing great.
Keep going? It's impossible! Shut up, Laura!
*He hasn't time to wonder why he knows her name. As the crack begins to make a noise... or maybe it's this irritating music in his ears... he forgets his wounds, his hunger and thirst, and becomes fear... hopeless fear on flying feet. Flying green, scaly feet.*
I can't...
I know you're exhausted, but this is where you can really gain fitness - by pushing yourself that extra bit. Keep going, you're almost there.
*As the magic begins to fade, the irritating music fades out, and so does the voice. But it's only then that Dinosaur Name begins to realise how much he needed it to keep running.*
Almost where? Almost where? WHERE, LAU...
*He is so distracted he doesn't realise where he is, and with a squeak of sudden shock, he slams right into the back of Robin's boot.*

*Robin is bent double. Athletic and trained as he may be, he's had far too much exercise for the day, and despite Shadow's remonstrations, he feels that he just can't keep going. He has no intention of falling into a crack in the ground, but he doesn't feel like there's anything he can do any more.*
I... I can't go on....
*He considers the heroic thing to do - implore Shadow to save herself and leave him resigned to his own grisly fate. But, having said that to himself, that's offering himself up for self-sacrifice... almost as stupid as side-stepping to one's left into a pit or offering goblins presents.*
This crack...
*...he indicates the crack... hang on...*
...which was following us...
*It still is. But it has become decidedly slower since Robin stopped running. In fact, although it is becoming wider, it is so slow that it looks relatively easy to avoid - not through speed, but through agility and forethought.*
...has... have you noticed that....?
*The rest of his sentence is lost in a winded sound as Dinosaur Name, who appears to be shouting about something, cannons into the back of his leg and sends Robin, rather ungainly, tumbling forwards over a pile of rubble.*

[OOC: So Dinosaur Name has a voice now as well?! XD]
*Shadow looks back at Robin when he says he can't go on.*
Yes you can, you idiot!
*But she knows he's right. She can clearly see he's physically exhausted. But they couldn't give up! They still had a crack...*
Robin: ...has... have you noticed that....?
*She looks to it.*
...no. I've been too busy digging my nails into your wrist just to get you to move! HOW THE HELL COULD I HAVE NOTICED THAT?!?!?!
*She probably would have carried on ranting were it not for Dinosaur Name tripping up Robin. His sudden fall forward makes Shadow let go of his wrist.*

*Young Grimwold thinks he hears a crash. Peeking out from behind the masonry, he sees nothing. It must have taken place further around the main building's perimeter or somewhere inside. He is still not keen to venture inside the school: at best it would surely be trespassing, at worst inviting a realm of trouble. KMBS was a place of magic and a lone magicless ogre could not hope to vanquish the necromantic with the semantic. On the other hand, if someone is trapped or injured in there, an ogre's aptitude for heavy lifting could be of use. Hesitant about calling out, YG waits to hear more.*

*Panting, heaving, lungs on fire, clutching a stitch in his side, Robin stands up.*
That... that was...
*He looks back at the crack. It's not moving. Neither is he. Nor is Shadow, nor the dinosaur. He takes one experimental step forwards on his uninjured leg. Nothing happens. Gingerly he takes another step forwards... and he hears a slight crumble behind him, from the direction of the crack.*
It's following us. It's following us at whatever speed we go in.
*Robin shields his eyes from the sun with one hand and looks out upon the horizon. What's left of the school building is more evident here, and rather than the low remnants of walls that he and his friends have been jumping over, some of them are higher. He can't divine exactly if any rooms are totally un-ruined, though. Twice his gaze passes over the stack of ruined masonry that currently hides Young Grimwold.*
What do we do now, do you think?

*Shadow cracks her knuckles together, quickly regaining her breath.*
To be honest, I have zero idea whatsoever.
*She scans the area.*
Umm...
*She usually finds that looking at something helps her to concentrate. Well, something that's stationary anyways. She focuses on the ground and begins to rock back and forth on her heels.*
Well...if this crack is following us, maybe we could make it...stop somehow? I mean we could try driving it into something really firm. Like a sturdy wall...
*Her eyes catch sight of the ruined masonry.*
...or something similar.

Well, I don't know what you're doing, but I'm getting out of here!
*Dinosaur Name begins toddling off, in the direction of the crumbling masonry, presumably to reach the seeming safety beyond it of the edge of the school grounds.*

*Robin flinches nervously as the dinosaur starts to disappear into the distance. There is a slight crumbling noise form behind him, indicating that the crack may be starting to move again, following Dinosaur Name's frantic steps.*
Yours is as good a plan as any. And if not, we could do with at least getting out of this place. I know it used to be a school of magic, and I don't do too well with magic.
*He starts to jog in the same direction, indicating to Shadow that she should follow. In the distance lie one dinosaur, one heavy slab of fallen masonry, one hidden ogre, and the edge of the school grounds. While looking into the horizon as he runs, Robin can also see some of the smoke from the chimneys of Wolfenden.*

A school of magic, eh? Now that would have been interesting. But then again, I've never been to school, so it's not like I would know.

*YG has heard no cries for help, meaning he feels no need to venture inside the main building. Noticing a stray brick on the ground, he suddenly becomes very uneasy without quite knowing why. Being an ogre in the bright outdoors isn't helping either. Nor is being in this strange, conflicted place: like its terrible adversary Scareye, it cannot seem to decide whether it is alive or dead. Like a volcano, what looks to be extinct or dormant could become punishingly active without warning, and YG has had enough fiery surprises for one day. Hearing voices moving closer again, he starts to panic and decides he must leave. The high outer wall of the school grounds is a short distance behind him, and though there are long unbroken stretches in either direction, there is a low gap close by. Shuffling backwards so that he remains obscured by the masonry figure, he squeezes through the gap. Trembling slightly, he walks away as quietly and quickly as his stature will allow. Under his breath* I'm sorry. *Perhaps he has done the wrong thing by not staying, but he feels in no mood for company and does not want to lose himself to anxiety again so soon.* [OOC: Continued in Young Dreamworld.]

You've never been to school? Well, I suppose I did, but it's not as if I remember it. It would have been a long time ago. A long, long time ago.
*He shakes his head to dispel the memories that he's trying to fish for. Can't get lost in a reverie now.*
Anyway, we're very nearly there... are you ready to vault?
*They have been jogging for a minute or so, the stone construct that once hid Young Grimwold (prior to his exit from the school grounds) getting nearer, so that rather than looming close to the horizon, it is now a few paces away. The crack snakes swiftly after Robin and Shadow, like a curious dog sniffing at the air ahead of it. Getting ready to jump, Robin puts all his hope in Shadow's theory that something solid will stop the opening in the ground in its tracks.*
If only this would work...
*He tenses his muscles... and vaults over the masonry.*
