[OOC: Continued from 'Brick or Treat?']
*Meliss and Red are outside, but have not made it round the corner of the building to the site of the main gathering and the 'light show'. Yet they don't have to: a light bee comes skirting round the building, and straight into Meliss' path. It pauses for the shortest of moments, before gently tapping her hand. She is engulfed in white light, and begins to disappear. Red, who had been a few steps behind, rushes towards his mistress, and vanishes too.*
*Hordriss de Confuseur [ModNote: last seen in Snakes In A Mine] glares as a dragon materialises in Meliss' bedchamber. Red flops giddily on the floor, and lets out a long sigh.*
Dragonsbreath!
Red: Yes, I know it smells. This is why we like mints. Where's Meliss?
One remotely detected the presence of powerful and potentially dangerous magic in her vicinity, and was attempting to extricate her. It seems the grasp caught you instead. Her calling name is inactive. Now let one resume.
*Hordriss shuts his eyes and mutters quick and quiet incantations. Meanwhile, Red is regaining his bearings, and he realises where he is.*
Red: Is Sidriss in the house? If I fetch her, you could pool your magic, and-
That won't be necessary. Silence please.
*Hordriss continues, his tone becoming ever-so-slightly frantic. He is working against the light bee magic that is trying to draw Meliss to another destination. Then, finally, he opens his eyes to see Meliss slumped on her bed. Suffering the same 'travel sickness' as Red, only more intensely, she has passed out.
Hordriss dabs his brow with a handkerchief. Whatever danger Meliss may have been in, he has been able to rescue her - this time. He thinks of Sidriss in her slightly younger days, wandering into peril time after time, out in a realm that is no one's friend. This is not what he wants for his niece. He only hopes that she may reflect on her experiences and come to share his caution. He gently fluffs her pillow.
Welcome home. We will talk when you are rested. You too, Red.
Red: And you, Sir! You must be exhausted after all that spellcasting.
Just a little fatigued. Thank you for your concern. One imagines you would prefer to sleep here for now. One will send Hoi Polloi to prepare a basket for you.
Red: Hoi Polloi?
Our manservant. Surely you remember him?
Red: I can't say I do.
*Deciding not to pursue this, Hordriss leaves. As he reaches the doorway, he turns.*
One must confess, one finds the voices of speaking dragons rather agreeable. Sleep well.
*With a small smile, Hordriss exits the room.*
[OOC: Meliss, if you're at all unhappy with this, please PM me at the Young Grimwold account, and I'll make changes.
