[ModNote: Continued from Strangers Enter the Wolf's Howl.] "Yes, this room will do nicely. Very nicely indeed - I will be staying for the foreseeable future so one needs a good room" *Meliss once again reaches into her travel-pouch and brings out some gold coins* "Now, about payment - how much does everything come to?" *While Meliss is sorting out the payment, Red yawns and stirs on the bed, his eyes opening slightly. He is still very tired, but manages to give a faint smile when he sees the room that he and his friend are now in*

*Ann- Marie smiles and nods her head slightly in slight greeting to the waking red then turns her attention back to Meliss.*
For now five gold coins shall be enough and then we can discuss further pricing later on, it appears your friends needs more rest and I would not like to disturb. My name is Ann-Marie if you have any problems or questions you can just ask for me down at the bar or any member of staff.
*She waits until Meliss has the payment ready before holding out her arm in a relaxed manner.*

"Indeed I shall, Ann-Marie. One is most impressed with the standard of this inn, it is very hospitable indeed and I do seem to recall that the food is of excellent quality too."
*She says all this while handing Ann-Marie the coins*
*Red gives a huge yawn on the bed, which makes Meliss laugh*
"And I think I can speak for my friend here too"

[OOC: Because Midnight isn't visiting the forum at the moment for some reason, and this thread has been frozen for nearly two weeks, I'm going to intrude a little to give Meliss the opporunity to move forward when ready.]
*Another maid appears in the doorway, apparently in need of a hand with some task or other, and calls Ann-Marie away. Meliss and Red are left to their own devices. Their room unfortunately is not on the same side of the building as the floating brick; so to find out what's going on with the investigation, the young sorceress will have to track down the group, or wait for someone to bring her news...*

My apologies, I thought I had selected to be sent a email to be told when a post had been made here to help my foggy memory but seems either I forgot to save, mis clicked or even worse was another forum all together.
Sorry Meliss for you having to be kept waiting so long, I will try and avoid it in future.

[OOC: Don't worry about it Midnight]
*Once Ann-Marie and the other maid have left, Meliss shuts the door behind her and turns to see how Red is. He is more awake now and is stretching his limbs gently*
"How are you feeling now, Red?"
*Red yawns in a refreshed manner*
Red: "I feel much better now, Meliss - but I fear that I'm going into my first growth phase, my legs and wings have started aching and there is a distinct roughness in my throat, in fact I..."
*At this, he starts coughing and spluttering and finally after about 30 seconds of this he takes a deep breath in...and when he breathes out, a large flame comes with it*
*Meliss is amused at this, but still looks sympathetic. She speaks quietly*
"Oh dear, I'd definately say that you are going into a growth phase. How long do you expect the transition to take?"
*Red winces a little*
Red: "A few hours, I fear. This will be quite painful for me and I don't really want you to have to suffer through it too so I'd suggest that now the time is ripe for you to join the others investigating that strange object. I can hear them just down the hall"
*Meliss gives the dragon a gentle hug*
"Very well, I'll do that. I think I'd better lock the room too, so no-one else can disturb you. Agreed?"
Red: "Agreed. Well, I shall see you later and when I do, you shall see quite a different dragon."
*Meliss nods, smiles and leaves the room. She locks it behind her and no sooner has she done that than the dragon lets out a roar of pain. She feels worried for him, but knows that won't do any good, so hurries to join the others*

[OOC: Continued from "Brick or Treat"] *Meliss pushes the door of the Wolf's Inn open in a frankly quite violent way, surprising the few drinkers that have remained in the bar during the recent drama. She apologises when one of them nearly falls off his chair in shock* "Sorry, so sorry. One did not mean to surprise you like that, it's just...oh I can't explain now, I need to find out what has happened to my friend" *Before rushing off up the stairs, Meliss helps the drinker - an old man - to his feet. He tuts at her when she almost immediately starts off again, then sits down and starts drinking again almost as if nothing had happened. Meliss rushes off up the stairs and when she reaches the top, decides to take a more cautious approach as she walks towards her and Red's room. Fumbling about in her travel pouch, she retrieves the room key. Reaching the room, she puts the key into the keyhole and slowly turns it in the lock. Worrying about what scene may greet her, she lays a cool hand on the door and pushes it open. A voice - a very regal voice, not unlike Smirkenorff's - greets her" "Meliss...one is very pleased to see you return. Now please tell me...how do I look now? " *Meliss looks at Red and the dragon looking back at her is still the same one she knew before but he now has a distinct air of authority about him. No wonder, as he is now the size of a small elephant. His claws are very long and very sharp. The room is in a state of disarray, some of the furniture is black and burnt, and the bed - which he is lying on - is broken. Meliss finds her voice and replies to his question in a shaky sort of voice* "You look like a dragon that's not to be messed with. You also look very regal and well, magnificent!"

[OOC: Continued from 'Brick or Treat?'] *Dreslin is standing in the doorway, looking quietly but curiously into the room.*

*Just then the Raggie who haveing finaly been relived of her substitue serveing wench role, with Sasha Peal haveing recoverd enough from Addis's spell to work again, past by the open door on her way back to her own room to get changed from the serveing wench 'dress' into her own.*
*Noticing Dreslin looking into the room Raggie also glance in curiously....*
"EEEEEKKKKKK!!!!"
*Raggie nearly jumped out of her skin at the sight of the rather large red dragon that now stood in the center of the room.*

*Still facing the window - and Red - Meliss very nearly jumps out of her skin when she hears Raggie's scream. She swings round and also notices Dreslin standing in the doorway, looking in. Raggie is shaking like a leaf and staring at Red*
Red: "There's no need to be afraid of me, my dear. I am the very same dragon who arrived at this inn earlier on, although I am a lot bigger than I was. Very sorry about the state of this room, but it is nothing that Meliss can't fix with a simple spell. When you're thrashing around in pain, you do tend to knock things over."
*He looks at Meliss expectantly, waiting for her to cast a clean-up spell. She does so after a pause, and in a few seconds the room looks exactly like it did when Meliss and Red went into it in the first place. The only difference is there is now a fairly large dragon in it rather than a small one. Meliss addresses Dreslin*
"Well...that's what he's turned into. Thankfully he's still a polite dragon, although he is slightly more pompous now. That's to be expected, I suppose"
*She goes over to the window and looks out*
"We still have to solve the riddle of that object though..."

*With a smile, Dreslin watches Meliss tidy her room by magic.
To Raggie* If you ever want to get an afternoon's work done in an hour, you know who to ask!
A shame that this room offers no view of the brick; though I'm not sure how much more we can learn from looking at it anyway.
*Dreslin thinks a little more about the brick.*
Red... this may seem an obvious question, but how are your kind born?

*Raggis stares at Red as she tries to collect herself...once again she ends up blushing bright red when she realises what a silly girl she's just made herself look.*
"Silly flower."
*She says to herself...repeating the phrase her mother always used to call her.*
"It couldn't very well be any other dragon then the one she came in with....how on earth would it have gotten into the room otherwise?? couldn't very well have come in threw the window its to big.......and i'm sure i'd remmeber checking a dragon into the Inn."
*Raggis reajusts her lopsided dress to try and look....less scruffy..and curtsies to Red.*
*....or at least makes an attempt at a curtisey as she somehow manages to lose her balance as she did so and just manages to stop herself crashing face first into the floor. the end result is she ends up in a half sitting half kneeling type of postion...and blushing even more as she quickly rights herself again.*
"I...errmmm....well......i'm sorry for screaming when i first saw you....I'm not use to seeing dragons in the rooms."

*Red addresses Raggie first*
"No need to apologise my dear, one does look rather fearsome now. But you can be assured that although I am a red dragon, I am somewhat more...peaceable than the majority of my kin. And certainly a lot more courteous too."
*He smiles at her then answers Dreslin's question*
"Now sir, I believe you wish to know how my kind are born. When a mother lays her eggs, the first thing she does before nesting on them is to light a fire. She gently nudges the eggs into it, then settles down on them. This fire protects us and warms us when our mother is away hunting for food. No enemies can threaten us, as the fire is harmful to them. Only the babies and the mother are unharmed by the flames. When we hatch, we remain resting in the fire until we are big enough to leave our homes".

*Dreslin nods and smiles.*
Thank you, Red. That was more detailed than I was expecting! But in there is the answer I was seeking: you hatched from an egg. *To Meliss* Do you see how this could relate to the mystery of the brick?

*Meliss moves back from the window, and turns to face Dreslin. There is a look of realisation on her face*
"You mean to say that...the brick might hold some kind of life-force inside it? It would certainly explain why it fought so hard to stop us from getting our hands on it. Intruiging, very intruiging. I take it the others are downstairs trying to work out what it is? Well one thinks one should join them. You too, Red."
*Red nods in agreement*
Red: "Now I have recovered, there is one more mind to help work things out"
