[OOC: Before I actually start typing things, there are a few things I have to say. I know this is the OOC section, but this whole thing, except for stuff like this (think of them as Notes from the Author) will be in character. What this is exactly, is basically a journal kept by Addis Hellfire that he writes in to record where he has been, important events that occurred, misc. notes he may write, and other random things that may spawn from the Aurak's twisted brain. That is not all this is. I am a fan of the Dragonlance book series. One problem with the series is: you never really hear about the events that happen from the villain's point of view. Another thing I should mention is that for those who have actually read the books (mainly Chronicles, Legends, Kang's and Regiment 1&2, The Second Generation, and Dragons of Summer Flame in this case), you will notice errors when it comes to the story line. This is because for one thing, it is in a totally different point of view. Also, I added a character (Jozan Dumarr) who has actual impact on the Heroes of the Lance. Although I am not sure if this will really effect the storyline, it may and you will probably notice. One final thing: (for now) I have no idea what so ever about Krynn's time line when it comes to actual years (example: 1879 BC). I will be posting in this at least once a day (unless I forget . . . ) and posting in a different reply each time (it is a pain in the arse to scroll down just to write a paragraph lol.]
I must wonder, who are you, you who are currently reading this. Assuming, of course, you are not I, the author of these records. If something has happened to me, and this book is loose upon the world and has been found by someone, I believe it must be known who the author of this book is. Before I tell you, however, you must swear that you will not destroy the book just because of who wrote it. Remember how much knowledge was lost since the first Cataclysm of Krynn? Or the knowledge lost from any mass destructions in days past? Who knows when such devastation will occur again and if this book is the key to unlocking secrets lost to time.
My true name is Addis - I do not have a real surname of any type, only what I have chosen for myself. I am an Aurak Draconian, a creature spawned from a dark ritual invented in ages past on the realm of Krynn. The ritual itself has escaped my memory, but I know it has something to do with a ancient Red Dragon, a dark Cleric, a Black Robed Mage, a demon (I believe a type of Aabashi, but I am not certain) infused with the final ingredient, a dragon's egg. It is important to note that the type of dragon egg used can drastically change the result of the ritual. In broad terms, using a evil - Chromatic - dragon egg will result it what is called a "Noble" - Good - Draconian; in retrospect, using a good - Metallic - dragon egg will result in a "Base" - Evil - Draconian. Since the creation of Noble Draconians has been kept secret from most, including me, for an uncounted amount of years (I only recently learned about it), I can not give much detail on them. However, I can give you the specifics on the Base Draconians. Using a Brass dragon egg will result in a Baaz Draconian. Baaz are the weakest of the species (both mentally and physically), and are used as anything from slave labor, cleaning, cooking, to being the spearhead of a suicidal assault. Of course, some Baaz are much more gifted then others and are even more skilled then most Draconians over all. Using Bronze dragon eggs results in a Bozak Draconian. These Draconians are natural born leaders, and what some may call a "Jack-of-all-trades". They are usually Wizards, Clerics, and commanders. Of course, they are fierce opponents when it comes to close quarters fights. The use of a copper dragon egg results in a Kapak Draconian. These are the stealth experts of the Draconian race. Nothing detects the approach of a well trained Kapak Draconian. Their tasks are anything from scouting to (usually) assassinations. Beware their venom, for it is a loved tactic of Kapak's to lick their blades, making those struck paralyzed for long enough for a finishing blow to be made. Silver Dragon eggs yield Sivak Draconians. These are the largest of the Draconian race and our combat masters. They are naturally extremely hardy, being able to take blows that would fell a dragon. Their strength is only matched by few, including Umber Hulks, Dragons, Trolls, and the like. Most of those (excluding Dragons) are still weaker than a skilled Sivak. One fatal mistake many make is to assume that they are merely dumb muscle-bound fighters. They serve as our Trackers and secondary assassins. Sivaks also are adept commanders. The last type of Base Draconian is created from the egg of a Gold Dragon. The result is what I am, an Aurak Draconian. My species is very few, for Gold Dragons are some of the fiercest foes in all the realms and are good at hiding their eggs. Auraks are natural Sorcerers. Our roles are less defined, for the tasks of Auraks tend to overlap with those of other Draconians (except Baaz). I however, was literally born to become an Archmage and Assassin. Unlike Kapaks, my type of Assassinations always use magic and only a small amount of real stealth.
If you are still reading this, and the book is not in the process of being destroyed, I advise you to take caution, for I have many protection spells in random pages. Before anybody asks, I did/do not intend for this to be read. However, as I have already stated, things can happen and the book may have left me and been found.
Know this, I am not just a reptilian murderer, I am also a scholar. I believe that knowledge and power should take precedence over most - if not all - things. I have learned in my travels and experiences that knowing one's past can help alter one's future and overall grant new knowledge. Something that one may have never questioned and always known to be true may be looked upon in shock when one looks back on his or her ignorance. With that in mind, I am going to write down parts of my past along with current events that have recently taken place and any random thoughts I think should be written down. This book may seem a scatter-brained mess. So be it, if that is how you would see it.
I was born (No, born is not the correct word, for Draconians are not born. Rather, I was created) about ten years before the War of the Lance. I was named Addis, given no surname as is custom for high ranking Draconians (Normally, one would get a surname that suits one's profession or something that goes along with one's personality or physical appearance. Common surnames are "Shatterwing", "Lightning Strike", "Razor Fang", "the Silent" etc.). According to the dark clerics who supervised my training, I was seen years ago in a prophesy that showed me winning the war that the dark goddess - Tahkesis, the Queen of Darkness - had lost so many times in the past. (Tahkesis is a five-headed dragoness and patron deity to all evil dragonkind. It was through her visions that the instructions for creating Draconians were given. The wars are her attempts at trying to enter the Mortal Plane in her true form and take over, preventing other deities but herself from having any influence over the world. She came close in the first war - known as the Dragon Wars for the main forces in said wars were originally Dragons - but was defeated and banished. She tried again a few times later, and was defeated and banished again and again. I believe the War of the Lance is her fifth or sixth attempt at total domination, but to be honest, I never counted.) I, along with four other Draconians of each type (five of us total, one of each type) were to give the Dark Queen her much desired victory. Being a creature spawned from dragons, I requested that my group was made in to sort of a Clan, and given a name. Due to the prophesy showing much fire and darkness, we were given the name Clan Hellfire. I took this as my surname, making me Addis of Clan Hellfire (I go by the name Addis Hellfire).
The war did not officially begin until years after my creation, but plots were being completed behind the scenes. As a result of the devastation of the previous Dragon War, both sides agreed on withdrawing their dragons from the mortal populated lands. The dragons then went into what I believe is called the Sleep of Ages, a hibernation that would last centuries until the dragons were awakened by their deities or other events that I am not aware of. Tahkesis had her dark clerics steal the eggs of the good aligned dragons, and announced what she had done to her foes. A ransom was then made - You stay out of this war of we destroy your precious eggs. Of course, the good dragons agreed to remain in their caves (they were awakened by the Dark Queen's threat). What the dragons did not know is the Dark Queen had ordered the corruption of the eggs to create Draconians.
Clan Hellfire's role in these pre-war plots was to break alliances that races had forged over many gruesome years, eliminate key individuals who may grow to be a threat, and secure staging areas for the Dragon Armies to move without starting the war until they were ready (The Dragon Armies are the Dark Queen's forces. Due to racial tensions, there was no unified force for Paladine, the patron of the good aligned dragons. We were to keep it that way). We were successful in our task.
The war eventually began, and the forces of light (as they call themselves) were already routed. The dwarves sealed themselves in their sacred, impenetrable mountain of Thorbardin, the Knights of Solamnia (Human paladins, one of the only true threats) were unofficially disbanded and still blamed for a long past event called the Cataclysm (that in itself is another story), the elves were still split by their own civil wars. Victory seemed guaranteed within the first week of the war. However, a group of heroes - long time friends who managed to escape death from the Dragon Armies - had risen and began to organize rebellions. Eventually, these heroes (known now as the Heroes of the Lance) found out about a legendary, long lost weapon called the Dragonlance. (The Dragonlance is a dragon slaying lance, a weapon that could and did vastly change the course of the war) One of the nine, a Knight of Solamnia who remained true to their virtues and honor, single-candidly fought a Dragon Highlord (a human commander in the Dragon Armies) mounted on her dragon. The Knight fell, but his bravery rallied others to his cause.
This created a threat that needed to be put down quickly. Thus was Clan Hellfire's new task. Upon tracking the heroes, we found that they had a friend, a Knight of Solamnia named Jozan Dumarr. Jozan knew where to find the heroes.
The war itself had taken two of my brothers, the Baaz and Bozak. Their loss still effects me and my brother, but we moved on with our task. Soon, we had found our prey at a tavern in the town of Solace. However, our brother had made an attempt to capture the wrong person, and we were discovered by a whole platoon of Knights and assorted enemies. A battle ensued, with us emerging the victor over the platoon and the Knight still alive. However, I turned to see the Knight plunge his sword up to the hilt in the Kapak's chest. (I do not wish to speak the names of the fallen, for it brings back specific details of their deaths that I do not wish to remember) The murder of my third brother resulted in a chase that lasted nearly a year. Eventually, my brother and I (Flaccus Hellfire and I) were called back to work. I was to keep on searching for the heroes (I used this as an excuse to hunt Jozan Dumarr), while Flaccus was given command of a recently captured keep in a strategic position.
My solo search found me once again close to the Knight. Too enraged to think clearly and form a strategy, I announced my presence to the Knight and chased him to a set of caves. He had a lead on me (about an hours worth if I remember), and I lost him there. At least, until I saw the footsteps of a mailed Knight towards one of the caves. I went in the cave after him, and was sent to a different realm after getting lost for who knows how long in the caves themselves.
I must wonder, who are you, you who are currently reading this. Assuming, of course, you are not I, the author of these records.
