*YG notes that Hordriss seems to be giving his support to Lord Fear's plan, and takes confidence from this. At least they are still managing to act in unison, despite losing Ursula. He knows that he can put plenty of force behind the shot-put, and he's still feeling a little too unsettled to face the Old One. Perhaps, he reasons, if the barrier allows the shot to pass through, then there will be nothing to harm Lord Fear when he tries to touch it.*
*YG takes up the position indicated by Hordriss.*
Are you sure about this, Lord Fear?

*YG is impressed with the technosorcerer's belligerent determination, even with his magic removed and his minions so far away. It is something he would never have come to appreciate in a malevolent overlord in any situation other than this one.*
Alright then. Just remember that the barrier is invisible, and timing is crucial, for you at least.
*YG decides to think about something that makes him livid, but not upset, in order to summon up his strength. What could he... Hordriss saying 'one' all the time. That is something YG is finding very, very annoying. No need to become so eccentric, just because you know some Latin...*
*With the shot-put in his palm, YG bends his forearm back, draws his shoulder back, then thrusts it forward and slightly upward, letting out a grunt as he does so. The ball is cast through the air...*

*Lord Fear stands beside the barrier, not touching it, and watches the shot put fly threw the air and touches the barrier at the same time as the shot put touches it and near where the shot put hits.*
"At least this will get me out of this place" thought Lord Fear very quietly.

*Lord Fear seems to have underestimated the distance between him and the barrier, as nothing happens. In fact, he didn't even touch the barrier. The have all now lost a weapon between them, and are none the wiser to the barrier. Is it worth your lives to try again?*

"What is going on? This barrier has seemed to of moved somehow?" said Lord Fear.

Yes, it probably moved. I did say it's unpredictable. Not that we can see it either way. And now we've lost the shot-put.
*YG stops himself from losing his temper. None of this is Lord Fear's fault, or Hordriss'...*
We could stay here, running through all our remaining potions and spells. Or we could find the elderly gentleman responsible for all of this. Maybe we're all going to due anyway, and I don't want to die without answers, like the others did.

Curious. One was sure that you were standing directly by the barrier, and one is rarely wrong on these things...
Perhaps the loss of the shot-put is a sacrifice worth making, for the postponement of further bloodshed. We live to fight another day, if you'll forgive the expression.
Have you any further ideas, Lord Fear, or shall we approach the Old One?

"Well I was thinking we could use the rest of the spells a potions up to try and get that barrier down, or we just make a campfire and sit round it and refuse to do anything unless they answer to our demands."

In a sense, we are in fact doing nothing - we were ordered to kill each other, and we're not. As for our demands, I don't think they'll be listened to, unless we confront the Old One directly. And thanks to our dwindling rations, a sit-down protest couldn't be kept up for long.
*YG does not reveal how intrigued he is by the idea of a campfire singalong with Lord Fear and Hordriss...*
Then again, if you two have any particular ideas for attacking the barrier, based on what we have [OOC: the list back on page 16], I'm willing to hear them.

As you remind us, Grimwold, our food and drink is not in endless supply. Yet, one can't help noticing that the three-day limit which the Old One declared on the battle should have expired some time ago. He is obviously prolonging his game, even though his playing pieces have ceased to advance. This I find curious.
One is inclined to feel that a meeting with the Old One is the most prudent way to proceed. Death is, one concedes, almost inevitable; death without reason, out here like rodents gazing fruitlessly through the bars of a cage, is intolerable. Again, your thoughts, gentlemen?

*A scroll appears reading:* "You have three hours left, Stupid Wizard. You are obviously getting incompetant in your old age - some time ago, indeed. Best finish the game now. Oh...and Grimwold tried to steal your potions whilst you were sleeping." *The scroll disappears* (OOC: The Battle ends tomorrow night at midnight )
