*Sir Edmund listens to the account, and is interested to note that the man she describes is similar to the one he saw leaving the scene. Then he sees Marcus enter the room*
Thinks: Alone?
Aloud: Of course Miss Barter, I would wish your statement to be clear. I will post guards to protect your residence at least until you have reported.
*He rises, and nodding to Marcus, he leaves*

"Completly alone?"
*He asks her loveingly.*

*Once outside the shop, Sir Edmund returns to where he saw the thief run. He begins to inspect the path and his sharp eyesight picks up several tell-tale signs of the robber's passage. Clearly he was too panicked to be especially stealthy. Sir Edmund misses nothing, and follows his trail to the edge of the village... the the road to the Brinkatore estate.* Thoughts: Now this is interesting. Not proof of course, but a strong possibility. Even so, from all my observations the... *he even thinks the word with distate* .... affection the Count bears for Miss Barter is genuine. Yet I cannot rule out this connection, emotions are notoriously shifty. I think that I shall have to pay a visit to the Count... and shortly. *With that, Sir Edmund turns. Of course he has sent out men to search for the burglar... but he doubts that he will be found in the village. He will have better accomodation* [ModNote: Chronologically, Locksley's next appearance is in The Inquisition's Squad.]

*CAtherine ponders for a minute or two.*
Well not completely, not yet anyway.
*Shyly Catherine hugs Marcus and slowly properly tells him what happened.*

[ModNote: Continued from The Inquisition's Squad.] *At this inopportune moment, Phinehas, having easily eluded the guard, glides in silently through the back door. He sees the couple before they notice him, and rather than being embarrassed and leaving, he proceeds to examine the rest of the room.* Doesn't take a genius to figure out what's going on here. Break in, obviously. What an incompetent klutz he must have been.*He then turns to the couple.* What happened here, Catherine?

*Catherine jumps, her body and hearing more sensitive after the break in and assault. After looking at Phinehas she smiles weakly.*
I would ask how you got passed the guard and even in if it was anyone else but with it being you I'm not at all surprised.
*Her tone is friendly but upset still.*
It was a break in and more, well could of been more if the Watch hadn't of come in at the time that they did. What are you doing here anyway? Not meaning to be rude at all just surprised that your here...though still not surprised that you got in.

Yes, I'm sure it must seem strange that I came in the back door, but I've reason to believe that the Inquisitors don't exactly count me as a friend.
I've come to ask if you've heard anything of a Sly Hands, or a place called Marblehead.
*Phinehas frowns.*
And what did you mean by "it could have been more"?

Sylvestor Hands he came into the shop the first day. He's a begger from the look of him and a stinky one at that. You couldn't miss him no matter how hard you tried...the smell anyway. As for Marblehead all I know is it's somewhere in Wolfenden. Maybe Marcus can tell you more.

Do you have any light to shed on the subject?

[ModNote: Continued from Arrival.] Anthony walks up to the shop but is blocked by the Guard. "Halt, you my not enter" said the Guard. "Really, I'm Anthony Delgado and you WILL obey me" he said as he stared deeply into the guards eyes as the Guard entered a trance. "I must obey" said the Guard in a zomibe-like voice as he steped out of Anthony's way. "Thank you" he said as he entered the shop.

Nice little trick, that.
