*as the light shone, Phoenixflame threw her arm instinctively in front of her eye*
"That's way too bright!!"

'Dunno what these lot are talking about Chief, I'm having no problems seeing anything.'
'That's because you've put your sunglasses on, you utter git' Julian seethed, his hands over his eyes.
'That would explain it. Pretty though' said Ed, clearly savouring the light show with a big grin.

*Phoenixflame overheard Julian's comment and glanced round, masking a smile as she saw his glasses, then frowned as she realised something was wrong* "Hey, where did Young Grimwold go?!" (OOC: Edited, sorry, i wrote this post on the move Meant to come back to it sooner! Sorry! )

[OOC: ...But no acknowledgement, from PhoenixFlame or indeed Ed & Julian, of an ogre disappearing into thin air, fatally for all anyone knows? I appreciate that a long enough stay in the Knightmare Realm could make a person blasé, but are you sure that your characters would overlook such an occurrence? ] *The spectators include ... Zyssa, one of the barmaids, who is standing apart from the rest of the crowd and looks particularly troubled *As the light bees continue to whizz among the bystanders, one of them passes close to Zyssa. There is no time to flee. As she raises her arm to shield her face, she accidentally touches the miniature comet, and disappears just as YG did. If there is some power controlling the movement and action of the light bees, it cannot have control of all of them. Some plough into walls, bursting as harmlessly as soap bubbles; others career away from the area entirely. Two find their way into the marketplace.* [OOC: And into Return To Wolfenden.] [OOC: I have PMed and emailed a few participants in this thread, and their posts will take things forward.]

'Did you see that?!' shouted Julian. 'Now she's vanished as well!'
'I don't like where this is going, Chief. It might be a good idea to be elsewhere for now-'
'No', said Julian, and there was that tone of authority in his voice again. 'There has to be some sentience behind these things, you saw what happened. We have to-'
Before he could get any further, the back of his head was struck by one of the orbs of light, and as Edward watched on in horror, Julian vanished in an instant.

[OOC: Continued from Meliss & Red's Room. Posting on behalf of Meliss, who is being hindered by computer problems at the moment.] *Meliss and Red are outside, but have not made it round the corner of the building to the site of the main gathering and the 'light show'. Yet they don't have to: a light bee comes skirting round the building, and straight into Meliss' path. It pauses for the shortest of moments, before gently tapping her hand. She is engulfed in white light, and begins to disappear. Red, who had been a few steps behind, rushes towards his mistress, and vanishes too.* [ModNote: Continued in Niece To See You.]

*Robin has been watching what has happened, a curious expression on his face, when a light bee zooms towards him, too...*
Oh no you don't. Not me too.
Zhing.
*He has unsheathed his sword. The little bead of light, picking up speed as it flies towards him, hits the cold steel as it connects with the quick swing of Robin's weapon.*
Take that!
*But curiously, it is undeterred. It barely recoils, and as Robin follows through with the cut, it slides off the sword and continues, at breakneck speed.*
Oh...
*Robin's eyes barely register the surprise as the light bee hits him in the chest. There is a short burst of light and the woodsman vanishes, leaving only a small sprinkle of light where he used to be standing.*

Am back now, hopefully as more of a regular *Phoenixflame glanced around as she saw several of her companions get hit by the light bees and vanish* "What the hell is going on?!" *She snapped, as her mind instantly ran through several explanations, each one discarded as quickly as the last* *Morwena dived straight into Phoenixflame's arms and tried to make herself as small as possible* "I don't like this!!"*Unconsciously, Phoenixflame moved next to Zeytan* "Have you ever seen anything like this?"

[OOC: I actually messaged Ed over 4 months ago to tell him he'd been earmarked for a 'light bee-sting'. However, he's not posted in his own right since January last year; his character has been unofficially carried within Julian's posts (something I've never been that comfortable with), which makes things complicated. Julian, if you can help with this at all, please get in touch with me or with one of the other active Mods.
Once that's been resolved, and a new thread for the conclusion of the brick saga has begun, Brick or Treat? can itself move forward, with those left behind deciding what to do next.]

[OOC: Yarg, I'm very sorry all, I had no idea this was waiting on me, I never got an email notification about about the PM, so I didn't even know it was there. I really am awfully sorry, I feel like a drunken dinner guest who's turned up 4 hours (or... months) late, only to find that the other guests had the civility to wait for him before tucking in. I'm now looking at myself like Scrooge on Christmas Morning, realising the decency which forms the backdrop to my own selfishness, and I won't let such a thing happen again. I'll say my piece now, and hope you can rewelcome me into the fold.]
"Chief?" Ed stared in dismay at the empty space in front of him, waving his hand gingerly through the space his friend had just occupied. He looked over his darkened glasses, as if the removal of the tint would somehow clarify what had just happened. It did not.
A flash in the corner of his eye alerted him to the prescence of yet another of the balls of light, this one hurtling straight for him. He turned to the others and shrugged apologetically.
"You know how it is," he said softly, then, as delicately as he could, he spun around on his heel and broke into a stumbling, frantic run, holding his cap onto his head as he desperately chuffed away from the light bee.
"Oh bloody h-" he yelled as the bee effortlessly slid into the back of his flailing arm, and he blinked out of sight.

[OOC: Thanks, Ed. Glad to have you back. Obviously it can be problematic when a member disappears for a long period, but the welcome mat has always been here. As long as posting on Surrounds is a pleasure and not a chore - because if it feels more like the latter, give us a chance to do something about it. Most of the characters in this thread have been in limbo for quite a while now, and it's not yet certain where and when we'll be touching down. So how about some 'on-hold music'? For anyone who was stung by a light bee: continued in 'Light Headed' (Otherlands). For those not stung, it continues here.] *The lights fade away as the evening dimness regains its hold. The onlookers begin to disperse, muttering in puzzlement but not greatly concerned. Curious faces withdraw from the windows of the Wolf's Howl Inn. As far as they are concerned, another of the realm's bizarre spectacles is over: an exotic nut has been cracked, leaving a kernel of gossip to be carried away for later. Broken fragments of the brick lie on the ground like fireplace embers. It has little more to tell. But PhoenixFlame and Zeytan and their animal companions, now short of several colleagues, will surely have questions.*

*Morwena was cowering in Phoenixflame's arms as she watched the bees sting and people disappearing*
"I don't like this!" She wailed, "It reminds me of that time..."
"Hush," Phoenixflame murmured softly to her, "It's OK, that's not happening again, I promise you."
*She turned to Zeytan, gently stroking Morwena's feathers, which had puffed up in fright, much like a cat does*
"Have you seen anything like this before in your travels?"
*She beckoned him over to where Ed had been standing a moment ago, and knelt down, reaching one hand out as she did so*
