*phoenixflame turns back to the group and smiles at them*
"Sorry about that!" Just got a little teary there!"
*Morwena laughs gently*
"we had noticed that, but we don;t mind! Wow, I dropped a feather there, i hadn't even noticed!"
*phoenixflame notices Callimpsest's sadness when he mentions being a librarian*
"Well, if we can get this school back up and running, I have an old friend who would be willing to send us some rare tomes, if you;re interested... Well, i can get him to send them now, if you wanted to see them!"
*this is all said with a friendly smile*
"And i see you noticed my reference to the fact that we're not from around here as well, though we class this realm as our home, it's not the world we originally came from..."

*As PhoenixFlame mentions her friend's rare tomes, Callimpsest nods - a way of responding affirmatively without having to mention the library or the rebuilding idea himself. Perhaps he would end up needing to sell the books to make ends meet, but at least he would have the privilege of being their custodian for a short time. And, as he often reminds himself these days, he would rather part with a book through trade than see it maimed by an explosion.*
It is clear that PhoenixFlame too is having trouble with her memories of the school's misfortune, so Callimpsest pursues her intrguing final comment.*
So, if I may ask, where are you from? Is it a named realm?

"Hmmm, well, in the language of this realm, it would translate to the land of the moon... I won't be offended if you don;t recognise the name, not many know of it..." Phoenixflame says with a wry smile
"Are you from this realm Callimpsest?" asks Morwena
*Phoenixflame rolls her eyes at Morwena's nosiness*

*Callimpsest is about to respond to PhoenixFlame when Morwena interjects. He frowns slightly.*
I am, yes. At times, it seems as if this realm only exists for those of other realms - the Old Realm, Alzanath, the Vaarkan dimension, the Netherworlds *Callimpsest sneers, and looks for a fleeting moment like he is about to spit; but he simply carries on* and the dungeoneers' world - to visit it or to watch it.
*Callimpsest realises that this might sound rather xenophobic to his companions.*
I mean no offence.

*smiles gently at Callimpsest's comments*
"Well, personally, I love this realm, it's more of a home than my own really.... And I have to admit, I find it wonderful that all these people come through here, it's a good way to learn new things, and meet new people! This realm is like the ties that bind all the other realms together, it's the metaphorical glue that binds them together!"
*Phoenixflame finishes this off with a happy smile, then frowns slightly*
"Though there are always those that do not travel here for the purpose of learning, some come here merely to cause trouble, or to harm others, those I have no time for...."
*Phoenixflame looks troubled as she says this, her face clears as she turns to Callimpsest*
*Morwena, bored of the conversation, flies over to the window and looks out*

"Well, personally, I love this realm, it's more of a home than my own really.... And I have to admit, I find it wonderful that all these people come through here, it's a good way to learn new things, and meet new people! This realm is like the ties that bind all the other realms together, it's the metaphorical glue that binds them together!"*Callimpsest returns PhoenixFlame's smile. The binding is an often underrated part of the book. In his library, he sometimes liked to think of himself as the binding that kept all those disparate texts in order: barely acknowledged by many of the library's visitors, and not of tremendous direct importance to the school, but not without his purpose. How wonderful it would have been if the library itself had had time to develop into the school's binding, a place to which all its learners and educators fostered links. But alas, no. That hope was pulverised by the actions of others - others from a different realm.* Though there are always those that do not travel here for the purpose of learning, some come here merely to cause trouble, or to harm others, those I have no time for...."*At this, Callimpsest simply nods. A small crowd is outside the inn, the remnants of the one that formed when, unbeknownst to those inside the Wolf's Howl, a dragon and his rider arrived at an upstairs window. [OOC: As hinted at in Unplanned Descent.] Morwena may notice them as she looks out. Callimpsest sees that Morwena has left the table, but he is not offended. He finishes his tea.* What would you say to us decamping to the Crazed Heifer, as agreed earlier? I dare say you'll find more of interest to observe in there, Morwena. Why, it's a veritable theatre at times!

(OOC: Continued from "Inward Reflections") *At that moment the door to the inn opens slightly. A few people glance towards the door to see who is coming in. But there's no one in sight. the door lurches back slightly and then moves slowly forward again. There is a faint scratching and scrabbling noise coming from the bottom of the door.* *Malark the young Mire-Crab, travailing companion and pet of The Atlantian Philosopher Zeytan, is desperately trying to open the door on his own and not having to much luck.* "I think you’re just a bit small to open this door Malark." *A hand comes into view and pushes the door open. Malark scuttles in. Followed closely by his owner. Zeytan, just back from his spell of meditation and reflection in The Forest Of Dunn. Under his arm he still carries the mysterious Net he and Malark discovered on their outing.*

*Morwena flies back to Callimpsest at the mention of more interesting things to look at*
"Ohh, we've never got around to going there, it sounds fun!" Morwena says as she lands happily on Callimpsest's shoulder.
*Morwena glances back at the window and shakes her head, as if trying to make sense of something she saw*
*Morwena then turns back to Callimpsest and says excitedly, "What sort of things happen in there?! Ohh, it sounds like fun, can we go there next?"
*As Morwena chatters happily away to Callimpsest, Phoenixflame laughs softly.
"Well, it looks like it's decided that we're going in a minute then!"

[OOC: As I've pointed out elsewhere, it doesn't seem plausible for Zeytan and PhoenixFlame to have met via KMBS. So could I please suggest that the previous two posts be slightly modified to remove that element of recognition? It's not crucial to the plot, and anyway, the three former KMBS staff won't be strangers for long. ] Indeed, just as soon as we have paid for our repast. Rather decent, and made all the better for the company. *Callimpsest turns to look for the maid. In doing so, he notices Zeytan. Callimpsest and Zeytan have both been living at the inn for some time, but even if he has glimpsed Zeytan before now, Callimpsest doesn't recognise him. He does, however, recognise what Zeytan is carrying. To PhoenixFlame* Please excuse me for a moment, Headmistress. *With Morwena still on his shoulder, Callimpsest gets up and hurries over to Zeytan.* Hallo. You've found my net! Much thanks. *Although grateful, Callimpsest is also embarrassed at claiming ownership of such an aggressive item.* My friends and I were about to depart for the Crazed Heifer. If you'd care to join us, I'd gladly buy you a drink in demonstration of my gratitude. And something for your fascinating pet. *Callimpsest looks in wonder at Malark. Going by the gentleman's eyes, he could well be from Atlantis; and if he is, that must be a bona fide mire-crab! What is more, could this be the first time in all the realms that a phoenix and a mire-crab have met?*

*Zeytan who had been makeing his way to the staire to assend to his room, is some what taken aback by Callimpsest stopping him and announcing that the net was indeed his.*
"Oh no trouble sir, I found it in The Forrest Of Dunn where I was meditating. Well me and Malark haven't had a drink today so a little liqued refreshment would be welcome. What do you say Malark?"
*Zeytan looked down at Malark who was nodding yes vigulsy and pulling on Zeytan's cloke as if to get him to move faster towards the door, just like a toddler pulls on their mummys hand when they want to get some were quickly.*
"I think it's unanimus."
*Holds out his hand.*
"By the way My names Zeytan, a private tutor & philosapher formely employed at the Knightmare Borading school, and this is my pet and travaling companion Malark."

*Callimpsest accepts the handshake.* Delighted to meet you, Zeytan. Hallo, Malark! I'm terribly sorry: I was at the school myself for a time - Callimpsest, librarian - but I'm afraid I don't remember you. Perhaps our liquid refreshment will bring me refreshment of the mental variety too! If you would excuse me briefly, I'd better take the net to my room before we depart. *Callimpsest hastens upstairs with the net, leaving Morwena to introduce herself to Zeytan and Malark, and allowing PhoenixFlame a few moments in which to do the same.*

*Morwena looks down at Malark and then lands lightly on Zeytan's shoulder*
"I'm Morwena, I'm the companion of Phoenixflame, who is the headmistress of the boarding school!"
*Morwena gestures to where Phoenixflame is sitting, as Phoenixflame moves towards them. Phoenixflame listens as Morwena tells her the names of their new companions, and smiles warmly at them*
"It's my pleasure to meet the pair of you! Its always nice to meet people who worked at the school !"

*Malark looks up at Morwena from the floor, he is fasinated by the simmering colours of her fethers. He decides to get a closer look and starts scuttuling up Zeytan to get onto his other shoulder.*
*meanwhile Zeytan, being raised in Atlantian gentry, kisses Phoenixflame on the hand and bows slightly.*
"A Pleasure to at last meet you headmistriss, and my condolances and appolagise about your fine school but the creature destroyed a good part of the structure of the building, and I only just got out with my life."
(OOC: Zeytan is reffering to The Alzan Assasin's attack on the school in TIME TO LEAVE, In the School section )
*By now Malark has got onto Zeytan's left shoulder and is looking at Morwena who is perches on Zeytan's right shoulder. Malark blows some pink bubbles at Morwena and then overcome sby his child like curiosity he reches out a claw and strokes Morwena's feather's in the same manner as how a young child pets a lamb for the first time, gently but at the same time a little bit ruff.*

*Morwena preens slightly at being admired, and doesn;t seem to mind the slight roughness of Malark's claws*
*Phoenixflame smiles at Zeytan's courtesy*
"The pleasure is mine, and I thank you for your kind words regarding the school, I hope one day to rebuild it, but perhaps now is not the time... I'm just glad you weren't hurt in the explosion, for though I hold the school dear in my heart, I would prefer that no-one has been injured, as the school can be rebuilt, but lives cannot be replaced, and neither can some of the other things lost, but life is precious..."

[OOC: Crossing back from this thread.] *Having stowed his net in his room, Callimpsest returns to the inn's dining and entrance area, joining the quartet that has formed. He is feeling buoyant at the thought of the day's 'school reunion', and the rapport between Morwena and Malark is charming, though he still can't remember why Zeytan's name is ringing a bell.* Very good, I see you've all met. Shall we go?
